Draft:Cardinal Miranda Institute
The Cardinal Miranda Institute of Liturgy, Music, and Art was founded in Mexico City as the Higher School of Sacred Music of the Archdiocese of Mexico by decree of Archbishop Luis María Martínez. Because Cardinal Miguel Darío Miranda Gómez actively promoted sacred and classical music and provided unwavering support to the institute, it was renamed in his honor on December 18th, 1969, in recognition of his contributions.
The institute educated many distinguished musicians, including Ana Caridad Acosta, Juan Manuel Lara Cárdenas, Ramón Vargas, José Guadalupe Reyes, Juan Trigos, Joaquin A. Romero, Gustavo (Gus) Reyes, Jorge Alejandro Suárez Arias, Víctor Luna, Rodrigo Macias, Enrique Caballero, Luis Fernando Luna, Galo Durán, Luis Hilario Arévalo, Guillermo Nava, Gark Sepher, Ivan Ceja, Lamberto Retana, Rodrigo J. Escamilla Rosas, José Luis Hilario Herrera Castro, Daniel Villarreal, Víctor Ruiz Del Valle, Eduardo Barreda Castorena, Tere Perales, Franklin Quezada, Sergio Cano, Pepe Ocampo, Tere Marquez, Noemi Nicolau, Juan De Dios, Katia Sofia Sabah, Gerardo Matamoros, Erica Rocha, Rosa Villasenor, Adalberto Romero, Jaime Arturo Uribe, Enrique Chavez Vázquez, Miguel Salmon Del Real, José Angel Ramírez Ragoitia, Celso Camacho Barco, Alejandro Orozco, Patricia Del Rio, Daniel Wong y Humberto Caballero Solano, Alberto A. Ramírez S., entre otros.
In 2016, the Cardinal Miranda Institute was dissolved by order of Cardinal Norberto Rivera, with the process carried out by Ricardo Valenzuela, a canon of the Metropolitan Cathedral.
The institute was directed by Father Xavier González Tescucano until the day of his death. Other directors included Professor Víctor Luna Guarneros, and the last director was Professor Juan Manuel Lara Cárdenas.
