Basir Amini
[edit]Basir Amini is an Iranian-British Church of England priest based in London. He is the leader of the Persian Anglican Community in London and serves as a curate at Holy Trinity Hounslow in the Diocese of London.[1]
Church of England ministry
[edit]Amini was ordained deacon on 29 June 2024 at St Paul's Cathedral, London, as part of the Diocese of London's Petertide ordinations. He subsequently began his curacy at St Barnabas, Kensington.[2][3]
He was ordained priest on 21 June 2025 at Holy Trinity Brompton, London, during the Diocese of London's Petertide ordinations for the Kensington episcopal area.[4]
In May 2025, the Diocese of London announced that Amini would assume leadership of the Persian Anglican Community in London BMO from 28 May 2025, while continuing to serve as a curate at St Barnabas, Kensington.[5]
Persian Anglican Community in London
[edit]Amini leads the Persian Anglican Community in London, a Church of England initiative serving Farsi-speaking Christians from Iranian and Afghan backgrounds.[6]
The Diocese of London has described the community's work as including discipleship, pastoral support, leadership development and the provision of Christian resources in Farsi.[7]
In 2026, Amini took part in a special choral evensong for Iranian Christians at St Paul's Cathedral. Church Times reported that the service was attended by hundreds of UK-based Iranian Christians and others. The Dean of St Paul's, Andrew Tremlett, delivered the introduction in English, while Amini delivered the introduction in Farsi and was identified by the newspaper as the leader of the Persian Anglican Community in London.[8]
The Persian Anglican Community in London was registered as a charitable incorporated organisation in England and Wales on 24 October 2024. The Charity Commission for England and Wales lists Amini, under the name Basiredin Amini, as a trustee from the date of registration.[9]
