Baran Nikrah (born 11 September 1989) is an Iranian filmmaker, audiobook narrator, voice actress, and television presenter. She made her directorial debut with the short film These Voices Are Real, which she wrote and co-produced with Hoda Zeinolabedin.[1][2][3]
Early life
[edit]Nikrah was born on 11 September 1989 in Gilan Province, Iran.
Career
[edit]Nikrah began her professional career as a presenter and voice actress, hosting cultural and cinematic events.
She served as the bilingual (Persian and English) presenter for the closing ceremony of the 37th Fajr International Film Festival.[4]
She also hosted the 23rd Hafez Awards in 2024.[5][6]
Filmmaking
[edit]Nikrah made her filmmaking debut with the short film These Voices Are Real, for which she served as writer, director, and co-producer alongside Hoda Zeinolabedin.
The film was screened at festivals including SXSW London, the Minimalen Short Film Festival in Norway, and the Tbilisi International Film Festival in Georgia.[7][8][9]
The film received the Raskin Spirit Festival Award at the Minimalen Short Film Festival.[10] It also won the Best Director award at the Golden Grape Festival.[11]
Audiobook narration
[edit]Nikrah has also worked as an audiobook narrator. Among her narrated works is the Persian audiobook edition of Wilful Disregard by Lena Andersson.[12][13]
