Anzar Chennatt (also known as Anzar Chennattu) is an Indian film editor, filmmaker and academic. He has worked across feature films, web series, television, advertising and documentary filmmaking. His work includes editing feature films and web content, as well as television promos and commercial productions. He has also worked in film education, curriculum development and post-production training.

Anzar Chennatt studied Applied Electronics and Instrumentation at Government Engineering College, Kozhikode, and subsequently completed an MBA in Marketing and Information Systems from the National Institute of Technology, Tiruchirappalli.

He later pursued formal training in filmmaking at the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII), Pune, completing a postgraduate diploma in Film Editing and a postgraduate certificate in Television Direction. He received an academic scholarship at FTII for academic excellence.

Anzar Chennatt began his professional career in the information technology sector, working as an Associate Business Analyst at Misys Software Solutions in Bangalore from 2007 to 2008. His work involved OPICS banking and treasury management systems and translating client requirements into functional software solutions.

He subsequently moved into filmmaking and post-production, working as a freelance and assistant editor on projects in Malayalam, Hindi, Marathi and English. His early film credits include Baankey Ki Crazy Baraat, Bhatukali, Dangerous Words from the Fearless, Summer Holidays and Natholi Oru Cheriya Meenalla.

As an editor, Chennattu has worked on feature films, web series, television promos, advertisements, corporate films and documentaries. His work has included projects produced for regional and national audiences.

Among Anzar Chennatt's feature-film credits is Nishiddho (2021), directed by Tara Ramanujan and produced by the Kerala State Film Development Corporation. The film received the Kerala State Film Award for Second Best Film.

He served as editor of 5 Seeds (2022), directed by Aswin P. S., which received the Best Children's Film award at the Kerala State Film Critics Award.

Chennattu also worked as an additional editor on Paka (2022), a film associated with the NFDC Film Lab Award.

His later credits include Soul Stories (2024)[4], a ManoramaMax Original web series directed by Sanil Kalathil, and the Hindi feature film Leela (2026), on which he served as editor.

Film education and academia[5]

Alongside his filmmaking career, Chennattu has worked as a film educator[6]

He served as an Assistant Professor at the K. R. Narayanan Institute of Visual Science and Arts, Kottayam, from 2017 to 2021. He was also a visiting faculty member at St. Joseph College of Communication from 2016 to 2020.

His academic work has included designing undergraduate and postgraduate syllabi for Mahatma Gandhi University and training students in film-editing theory and professional editing software.

His teaching approach combines academic film theory with practical post-production workflows used in professional filmmaking.
