Alif Imran Hidayat (born 4 March 1997). A member of Parti Keadilan Rakyat.
Early life and education
[edit]Alif Imran Hidayat was born in Colombo, Sri Lanka. He is the second son of a former diplomat, Dato' Hidayat Abdul Hamid and Datin Rozita Ngah. His father was a senior diplomatic officer in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Malaysia), retiring as the Malaysian High Commissioner to New Delhi, India. His late maternal granduncle, Abdul Rahman Arshad, was a former Director General of Education and Pro-Chancellor of Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM).
Alif attended school in Buenos Aires, Argentina, Jerudong International School in Brunei Darussalam, British International School of Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, and QSI International School of Astana, Kazakhstan. He furthered his tertiary studies at the University of Nottingham and Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia. While at Nottingham, he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in International Relations. In 2020, he completed his Masters in Strategy and Diplomacy from the Institute of Diplomacy and Foreign Relations (IDFR), Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Malaysia).
Early career
[edit]After leaving university, Alif worked as an Research and Advisory Intern at KRA Group. He then became a Maritime Security and Diplomacy Researcher at the Maritime Institute of Malaysia, under the Ministry of Transport (Malaysia). He published articles on maritime security threats, such as maritime terrorism, maritime cyber security, and drug, weapons & human trafficking in the Asia Pacific. Soon after, Alif became a Supply Chains and Operations Management Consultant at Ernst & Young.
In 2024, Alif worked at the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, under the Global Maritime Crime Programme (GMCP) in Bangkok, Thailand.
