D1L-Duck or Drone v.1 Large Duck is a Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) interceptor developed by the Ukrainian company Falcons. It is designed for short-range interception of other UAVs, including Shahed-type one-way attack drones.[1]
Development and design
[edit]The D1L-Duck was publicly reported in March 2026 as one of several Ukrainian interceptor drones developed in response to the widespread use of unmanned aircraft during the Russian invasion of Ukraine. The aircraft was developed by Falcons as a relatively inexpensive short-range interceptor.[1][2]
The drone is equipped with a daytime camera and carries an explosive warhead of approximately 300 g (11 oz).[2][3]
Specifications
[edit]Reported specifications include a cruising speed of approximately 150 km/h (93 mph), a maximum speed of approximately 300 km/h (190 mph), an operating radius of up to 15 km (9.3 mi), and a flight endurance of approximately 15 minutes.[1]
The reported price of the D1L-Duck is approximately ₴65,000 (approximately US$1,450) per aircraft.[1]
In March 2026, BBC News Україна reported that information about the drone's large-scale production and battlefield effectiveness was not yet publicly available, and that its listing on the Brave1 Market indicated that availability from the manufacturer was still expected.[4]
Name
[edit]The name D1L-Duck is an abbreviation of Drone v.1 Large Duck. Ukrainian media noted that its pronunciation resembles the Ukrainian slang word ділдак (dildak, "dildo"), part of a broader trend of humorous names used for Ukrainian interceptor drones.[4][3]
