The Brunet Castle (Spanish: Castillo Brunet), also known as Yarur Palace (Spanish: Palacio Yarur), is a historic castle in Viña del Mar, Chile.
History
[edit]The Brunet Castle was built for the Brunet family to the architectural design of Alfredo Azancot, with Jorge Schroeder Espinoza was project architect.[1]
The castle was purchased by Nicolas Yarur in 1940.[1] Shortly after, he hired Schroeder to remodel the castle.[1] In 1945, it was used as a summer residence by the Chilean Ministry of Foreign Affairs.[2]
It has been listed since 9 May 2000 as "historic and/or architectural building" by the city council.[1]

A governmental inspection of Palacio Yarur, formerly called the "Brunet Palace", has resulted in reports at Vina, Chile, that this architectural fantasy will be used by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs during the summer. The Palacio Yarur is in a dominating position on a hillside overlooking the river. The President's Summer Palace is nearby.
