The Xikeng Formation is located in Xiushui County, Jiangxi Province, and De’an County, and contains alternating beds of purplish red, grayish green and yellow green sandy and muddy rocks.
The Xikeng Formation was once dated to the Late Silurian - Early Devonian period in 2009,[2] but after a new outcrop was identified within Baishui town in 2025, the age of the Xikeng Formation was refined to the Telychian stage.[3]
