William Fahnbulleh is a Liberian former professional footballer who played as a forward. He played club football in Tanzania, Liberia and South Africa and made one appearance for the Liberia national football team in 1997.
Club career
[edit]Simba
[edit]Fahnbulleh joined Tanzanian club Simba in 1993 and remained with the club until 1998.[1][2]
Fahnbulleh was playing in the Tanzanian league when the Liberia national team visited the country for an African Cup of Nations qualifier in February 1997.[3] After the match, Liberia captain George Weah held discussions with Simba benefactor Azim Dewji, after which Fahnbulleh remained with the club.[3] On 8 November 1997, he played in Simba's 6–0 victory over Yanga.[4][5]
Tanzania Stars
[edit]In 1999, Fahnbulleh played for Tanzania Stars, a lower-division Tanzanian team that competed in the 1999 African Cup Winners' Cup.[2][6] He was pictured with the squad before the second leg of its first-round tie against Uganda's Simba FC at the National Stadium in Dar es Salaam.[6] Tanzania Stars drew the match 1–1 and were eliminated 3–2 on aggregate.[6]
Junior Professionals
[edit]Fahnbulleh returned to Liberia and played for Junior Professionals during the 2000–01 season.[2] A 2002 report about the club named Fahnbulleh among several players whom it had helped to travel abroad in pursuit of professional careers.[7]
Hanover Park
[edit]Fahnbulleh later played for South African club Hanover Park during the 2007–08 season.[2] The club competed in the Coastal Stream of the country's second-tier Golden League that season.[2]
International career
[edit]Fahnbulleh made his only recorded senior international appearance for Liberia against Tanzania at the Uhuru Stadium in Dar es Salaam on 23 February 1997.[8] He started the 1998 African Cup of Nations qualification match, which ended in a 1–1 draw.[8] Jonathan Sogbie scored Liberia's goal in the 28th minute before Dua Said equalised for Tanzania in the 81st minute.[8]
