Mere list-by-title of films which fit this category, no reason to be its own page instead of a category (if it should even exist at all). No notes/commentary/descriptions are given as to how each film fits this description. Personally would support draftification over deletion if other editors are willing to work on making it a suitable list.

I propose merging to Shakori because the article concerns an extremely poorly attested and unclassified language for which it states that only one word is known. The three cited sources appear to support individual historical or linguistic details, but do not appear to provide significant independent coverage of a distinct subject called the “Shoccoree–Eno language” sufficient for a standalone article. There may be a WP:SYNTH concern.

Most of the available information concerns the Shakori and Eno peoples, their possible linguistic affiliation, and the survival of an Eno dialect. That material can be covered adequately and with better context in the existing language section of Shakori. A redirect would preserve the searchable title and the article history while avoiding a standalone page based largely on brief source mentions. Nativecrusader (talk) 08:57, 3 August 2026 (UTC)reply

  • Oppose. GAZ Volga covers the original line of cars. This article is (or appears to have been intended to be) about the revived brand of rebadged Chinese models. I won't argue, there are six different cars that have Volga as the brand name (seven if you include Siber, which brand relation is a debate in itself) and it would be nice to have information about them listed seperately. I just couldn't think of many examples of car models turning into their own brands to find their pages. What also doesn't help is the fact that all the cars supposed for the original model page are listed here. Now that I think about it, old Volgas were definetely sold as its own brand outside of Soviet Union which is also worth mentioning in the articles. Anon13131313 (talk) 17:35, 26 July 2026 (UTC)reply

Performing WP:AFD2 for a WP:TA requested at Wikipedia talk:Articles for deletion/Archive 80 § No sources for the name "Brunswick Star":

== No sources for the name "Brunswick Star" ==

Hi, so I'm here because at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion#How_to_nominate_a_single_page_for_deletion it says "post a message at Wikipedia talk:Articles for deletion requesting that someone else perform the nomination, making sure to explain your rationale there."

The article is Brunswick Star https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brunswick_star. It has two references but neither even uses the term Brunswick Star.

The reference desk editors tried to find sources to improve this and could not. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Reference_desk/Archives/Humanities/2026_July_1#Brunswick_star

Notably, they also couldn't find the term used in published heraldry books.

So possibly this is not a real term and the article should be deleted?

KEEP I'm new to this so apologies for any misstep but I think it's useful to keep an actual page for this person because of the other people with the same name and title. It would be of use to any researcher or interested person to have an actual physical page with a photograph, (since one exists) in order to clarify and confirm which Princess Olga they are looking at, especially when birth and death dates are coincidental. It would send a clear message that Wiki has done its homework and isn't mixing up princesses or dates. Under these circumstances I think the lack of detail is not a problem and I agree that (rightly or wrongly) princesshood confers notability in most cases. ~2026-42636-56 (talk) 09:32, 3 August 2026 (UTC)reply

Fails WP:NEVENT and WP:NOTNEWS. Lacks WP:DIVERSE and WP:SUSTAINED /WP:PERSISTENCE coverage. Does not demonstrate WP:LASTING or WP:GEOSCOPE impact. A flury of media coverage in local press within a short window is not enough to show this is a notable event. We would need to see wider press coverage outside California which other than the Huffington Post this doesn't have (not surprising since this was a play staged at local theatre; how is this relevant outside of LA?). The play/production itself wouldn't pass GNG because it was staged at a minor theatre. If this were a Broadway show I could maybe see an article but not for a production at a regional theatre. Note that the only source outside of the month of July 2018 is the Huffington Post which is not considered reliable for political topics per WP:HUFFPOST.

At best this could be covered very briefly in the articles on the La Jolla Playhouse and actor Jonathan Pryce; both of which don't even mention the controversy. Although Pryce ended up turning down the part, so I don't think it would be WP:DUE in his article. In fact the controversy is not discussed in any of the relevant related articles; probably because the production itself is not notable which brings as back to the question, is this encyclopedic? I don't think so. 4meter4 (talk) 14:59, 26 July 2026 (UTC)reply

  • Keep, move to The Nightingale (musical). Good catch. I think the play does meet notability guidelines. A few pts: La Jolla is not a minor theater, but a mid-size to large and well-known regional house. Coverage in the article is not local, but at least regional if not national: a workshop in San Diego covered in the LA Times, Backstage, and HuffPo in current sourcing, plus in the International Business Times[1]. Lacking a subject-specific guide for plays, WP:NFF is instructive here, as this wasn't a full production, but a developmental workshop, and the controversey resulted in significant non-routine coverage of the play. There's routine coverage of the play from at-least (I count at least six workshops) 2007,[2] 2011,[3] and 2023.[4] The development process for plays is different than film, but a series of workshops - the path to production and Broadway for many shows - is a strong parallel. The La Jolla workshop meets NFF's requirement for in-depth reporting, such as discussion, critical analysis, set visits, and detailed critiques. There should be multiple sources providing this kind of coverage for a standalone article to be warranted.. Sheik, Sater, Kaufman, and La Jolla Playhouse alongside Powerhouse, The Public/Joe's Pub, Eugene O'Neill Center are all themselves independently notable, and we have SIGCOV from the controversy.BrechtBro (talk) 22:21, 26 July 2026 (UTC)reply
Um, I don't think reviews of plays in workshop format are significant enough to count as WP:SIGCOV. These are shows in development, and not reviews of a final product. For Broadway shows, WP:WikiProject Theatre's general policy is to wait until after a show has officially premiered in non-workshop format and is not in preview or tryout stages (which comes after the workshop stage of development). If the show is still in workshop and hasn't even gone into previews it is absolutely too soon for an article on this show.4meter4 (talk) 05:25, 27 July 2026 (UTC)reply
I agree, except we're not looking at reviews - workshops aren't typically open to review and this one wasn't. Because of the controversy, we have a bunch of coverage of the play's development, which is highly unusual and suggests notability. NFF reads, films produced in the past which were either not completed or not distributed should not have their own articles, unless their failure was notable per the guidelines. (emphasis mine). BrechtBro (talk) 15:57, 27 July 2026 (UTC)reply
NFF is a false analogy. Films play in multiple theaters and can be streamed. The audience for films is often global. A theatre workshop in a minor theatre (and LaJolla is minor. It is not Broadway or the West End or even in a second tier city like Chicago with a major theatre district) has very little audience reach even in the city where it ran. Workshop audiences tend to be small and poorly attended. It is no comparison to a film where the audience is large because it can play in many places simultaneously. A play has no relevant parallel to a film in regards to interpreting NFF. Note that NFF does not cover live theatre for a reason.4meter4 (talk) 18:54, 27 July 2026 (UTC)reply
I don't believe any theater professional would describe La Jolla, a LORT B with a Tony award, as "minor."
Having a large audience is not the only path to notability for a creative work, the various subject specific criteria for them such as NBOOK, NFILM, NALBUM all mention independent sigcov as a criteria. WP:UNRELEASED says, of music, Unreleased material (including demos, mixtapes, bootlegs, promo-only recordings, and related items) is only notable if it has significant independent coverage in reliable sources. Notability here is suggested by sigcov of the the play's development, and in a way that doesn't rely on any CRYSTALBALL speculation about the play's future. If the show was completely unimportant, there would be no coverage of the controversyBrechtBro (talk) 00:50, 28 July 2026 (UTC)reply
Regional theatre is regional theatre. You can give a theatre a Regional Theatre Tony Award (not a competitive award; this is actually more like a grant) for doing regional theatre well, and that's a nice feather in its cap but its still doing regional theatre. It's not eligible to compete for major theatre awards for its productions, it doesn't routinely get national and international press (unlike a Broadway or West End theatre) etc. There are lots of theatres all over the country with a regional Tony. It honors a certain aspect of American theatre, but it doesn't elevate that theatre into the major leagues (ie a theatre in a top market with a high profile media presence that extends beyond local news coverage on a routine basis).
As for NALBUM and the other SNGS... Again these are false analogies. Books are sold everywhere. Albums are released everywhere. People can buy them on the internet, on a kindle, at a book store, on a streaming platform etc. These are all mass media products with a potential global market. A local theatre workshop isn't a mass media product. It isn't consumable by the masses and is only viewable to a limited audience. We don't have a relevant SNG to apply here for a reason.
As for SIGCOV... this coverage is not significant. The coverage isn't even reviewing the musical in-depth or talking about it in any significant way. It's mostly focused on a casting controversy without actually talking about the show. There isn't a single solid quality review out of any of the sources presented. It's all press release/promotional adjacent coverage (mostly advertising upcoming workshop performances) without anything particularly meaningful to say. This reflects the fact that this particular show hasn't had a major staging anywhere, and has never been given a full production. Critics aren't going to give their full attention to a workshop because that isn't what is done. All we have here is a rather nominal controversy, and a bunch of fluffy promo press that doesn't actually dig into the show and give it a proper review. That's not GNG level coverage, and certainly isn't showing this show is encyclopedic. To compare look at the plethora of reviews for even short lived Broadway flops where the press actually has something real to say about the show with some quality analysis. That just doesn't exist here.4meter4 (talk) 01:25, 28 July 2026 (UTC)reply
There's no reviews because the play didn't open anywhere, critics do not review workshops (or previews, typically) because the gentlemen's agreement between producers and critics is that they are not allowed to, but it's extremely rare that a play's development itself is newsworthy--and we even have a column from the LA Times critic (not local!) discussing it. This is off-topic, but regional premiers routinely win the Pulitzer, fwiw; you seem to be describing a difference between the commercial theater and the not-for-profit theater, many regional theaters are considered to be extremely important in the field, particularly with regards to artistic rather than commercial qualities. BrechtBro (talk) 03:18, 28 July 2026 (UTC)reply
La Jolla, like other significant regional theaters, is covered with some regularity in the national press, btw. BrechtBro (talk) 03:48, 28 July 2026 (UTC)reply
The LAT article isn’t a review. It’s entirely about the casting controversy. It has nothing of substance to say on the musical itself. LA is also a stone’s throw away from San Diego. People commute between the cities. I wouldn’t consider it national but regional coverage. Regardless, that piece is again not a review and I wouldn’t consider it sig cov of the musical. I just want to point out that the topic here isn't LaJolla as a theatre. The question is about the musical. You really hit the nail on the head here with this: There's no reviews because the play didn't open anywhere, critics do not review workshops (or previews, typically) because the gentlemen's agreement between producers and critics is that they are not allowed to... We both agree on this. Critical reviews are what makes a standalone article on a show possible. That's the type of SIGCOV required. That just doesn't exist which is why deletion is the correct choice in this case. Chalk it up to a case of WP:TOOSOON. Once there is an actual production of the show with critical reviews then we can have an article. 4meter4 (talk) 04:24, 28 July 2026 (UTC)reply
"Critical reviews are what makes a standalone article on a show possible" I don't believe there's any such guideline that says this, even WP:WikiProject_Theatre/Article_Structure says that critical response is an optional section. There are certain things we can't say about the play since it hasn't opened, but there are other things that we can, much of which is in this article. Articles on unreleased films have details about their production, and they have nothing to say about reception or plot. The production and development history of a play is of no less importance to a play than it is to a film. It's an unusual case, and that's why I'm saying keep. If it's TOOSOON, draftifying should be a reasonable ATD. BrechtBro (talk) 05:16, 28 July 2026 (UTC)reply

Merge AirAsia X page into AirAsia Group

Merge AirAsia X page into AirAsia Group Safeer Zaman (talk) 06:51, 3 August 2026 (UTC)reply

AirAsia X Berhad has officially completed its rebranding and corporate restructuring, changing its name to AirAsia Group Berhad. The new corporate entity began trading under the new name on Bursa Malaysia on July 14, 2026, with the stock short name AAGB. [1, 2, 3] Safeer Zaman (talk) 08:33, 3 August 2026 (UTC)reply
Key Summary
  • The Merge: AirAsia X acquired and absorbed all of parent company Capital A's short-haul and regional aviation divisions for RM6.8 billion. [1, 2]
  • The Goal: It unifies short-, medium-, and long-haul operations under one singular brand to build the world's first true low-cost network carrier. [1, 2]
  • The Split: Capital A survives strictly as a non-aviation holding company handling logistics, digital apps (AirAsia MOVE), and engineering services. [1, 2]

The article lacks sufficient notability. Simply because a company is large or has acquired another company does not mean it automatically qualifies for a Wikipedia article. For example, Driven Brands' tire retail business is even larger, and the company is publicly traded, yet it still does not have a standalone Wikipedia article.
Let experienced editors determine whether this company qualifies for a standalone Wikipedia article. Brodska213 (talk) 06:42, 24 July 2026 (UTC)reply

Delete. The subject appears to exist and to have done so for some time. However, existence alone is not sufficient to establish encyclopedic notability. At present, the article does not appear to demonstrate that the subject meets the criteria outlined at WP:NCORP, as it does not cite significant coverage from reliable, independent secondary sources. In its current form, the article also has some characteristics of a directory-style entry, which may be relevant to WP:NOTDIRECTORY. Additional independent sourcing would be needed to demonstrate the subject’s encyclopedic significance. If reliable, independent sources demonstrating significant coverage are available, they would be welcome for consideration. Brodska213 (talk) 06:28, 3 August 2026 (UTC)reply

  • WP:INHERENTWEB: If the individual web content has received no or very little attention from independent sources, then it is not notable simply because other web content of its type is commonly notable or merely because it exists.
  • WP:WEBCRIT: The content has been the subject of multiple non-trivial published works whose source is independent of the site itself. This criterion includes reliable published works in all forms, [...] except for media re-prints of press releases and advertising for the content or site or trivial coverage, such as a brief summary of the nature of the content or the publication of Internet addresses and site, newspaper articles that simply report the times at which such content is updated or made available, or the content descriptions in directories Trivial2105 (talk) 04:25, 19 July 2026 (UTC)reply

SEEQC

This article on this quantum computing company has been created in both article space and draft space. A review of the sources shows that some of them are press releases, some of them are interviews with the CEO of the company, and some of them are about the technology. I did not read reference 2, which is paywalled, but am inferring that it is about the technology. If someone can read it and verify that it is about the company, it will be 1 source that meets all of the criteria for corporate notability. As it is, some of the sources are not independent, and some of them are passing mentions.

The article often reads more like a CV, resume, or piece of promotional content than a neutral page. Over the years, editors have pared back some of the most egregiously self-promotional content, but what's left is still a page for someone who does not meet NPOL and otherwise fails GNG. I propose merging to List of Islamist terrorist attacks because this page falls under WP:NOPAGE and very likely does not meet WP:NEVENT. There are books that cover this event after it happened, like this one, but this is from the US state department, which was involved in this event, so it is not WP:INDEPENDENT. Fails WP:NPLACE and WP:GNG. No evidence of a community at this location.

The article Welcome to Ven Petten: Population 2 only describes a couple who live next to the former rail depot, who have turned their home into a sort of museum. No mention is made of a former larger town. –dlthewave 22:16, 18 July 2026 (UTC)reply

The general store and grain company are typical for what you'd find on the grounds of a simple rural railroad station. I'm not sure where the "recognized community" description is coming from. Although it was platted as a town, we don't have any evidence that a town ever actually formed there. –dlthewave 04:00, 23 July 2026 (UTC)reply
I mean informally recognized. And there's a 2010 news story saying they have a mayor and pay town taxes in 2010 to remain a town. I understand why you nominated the article for deletion, but i think its sufficiently notable. (ETA: also note the 1938 reference saying the population is 12.) There are many old newspaper references to the community, but those are more the variety of "Bill Joe of Van Petten came to Dixon today", so i didn't want to pollute the references with that.--Milowenthasspoken 13:56, 23 July 2026 (UTC)reply
Which notability guideline do you believe this meets? Van Petten doesn't appear in 2012 Illinois Counties and Incorporated Municipalities, and it's not clear what this "town tax" refers to. This really just looks like a single couple who was keeping the idea of a "town" alive for sentimental purposes. Unfortunately there doesn't seem to be either official recognition or significant coverage to meet NPLACE or GNG. –dlthewave 15:33, 23 July 2026 (UTC)reply
I have continued to improve the article and feel comfortable stating I am now an expert in the complete history of Van Petten, Illinois. As a self-appointed expert, you will unable to sway my !vote. Seriously though, i think there's a fair case for showing it was an informally recognized small community that started in 1901 and that had largely died by the late 1930s. The plat was not vacated until 2024. I still don't know what the town tax is, so my expertness is perhaps incomplete.--Milowenthasspoken 21:38, 23 July 2026 (UTC)reply

In the context of China's media landscape where nearly all publications have a connection to the state, I agree that these sources are sufficient to establish notability. The Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine jointly decided to select 500 veteran TCM experts nationwide to serve as mentors; each was assigned one or two mid-career assistants—who already possessed a solid foundation in both theory and practice—to facilitate knowledge transfer through direct apprenticeship and face-to-face instruction. That October, a grand ceremony was held at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing to mark the launch of this national program for inheriting the academic expertise of veteran TCM experts. There is sufficient coverage in reliable sources to allow Master of Chinese Medicine (simplified Chinese: 国医大师; traditional Chinese: 國醫大師; pinyin: Guóyī Dàshī) to pass Wikipedia:Notability#General notability guideline, which requires "significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject".

    Cunard (talk) 07:46, 20 July 2026 (UTC)reply

The first is not independent. The second and third seem to only be trivial coverage, not significant. All the sources need to be all of reliable, independent, and significant coverage. Having one that is significant and another that is indepedent does not make for the qualification. Jerod Lycett (talk) 11:07, 25 July 2026 (UTC)reply

State-run media cannot be independent of state-run awards. So they are not independent. Also provided does not qualify for significant coverage. So they fail 2/3 requirements. Jerod Lycett (talk) 01:54, 21 July 2026 (UTC)reply
Wikipedia:Notability#General notability guideline says:

"Significant coverage" addresses the topic directly and in detail, so that no original research is needed to extract the content. Significant coverage is more than a trivial mention, but it does not need to be the main topic of the source material.

These sources all address "the topic directly and in detail" so are sufficient to meet the requirement. I've responded above about why I consider the sources to be sufficiently independent. Cunard (talk) 09:45, 21 July 2026 (UTC)reply
  • Normnation withdraw. Reasons: According to the History records, the nominator made large scale editing on the article after normnating it for deletion, including removing a great majority of the text and rating the article as a stub. I understand it as an intention to keep the article by improvement. Thanks for the efforts to "save" the article!

Removing promotional material that is against the PaG is not an attempt to save it. Nor is putting a maintenance tag, such as a stub tag. As for the marking it as reviewed, part of WP:NPP is putting articles up for AfD as part of reviewing them. It's basically only stating that the article isn't pure vandalism or promotional. Further, removing promotional material does not at all address the main reason the article is at AfD: It lacks independent sources. To compare: both Friendship Medal (China) and State Natural Science Award (China) have multiple sources that are not from the government nor state-owned media. The medal even has international coverage. If you cannot find independent sources, then it fails to meet the standards of the English Wikipedia. Jerod Lycett (talk) 11:01, 25 July 2026 (UTC)reply

I was unable to find any sources that help notability, though I did not search in Persian. A lot of citations to books they have published and nothing else. As far as I am aware, fails WP:GNG/WP:NCORP. PARAKANYAA (talk) 18:23, 26 July 2026 (UTC)reply

Subject lacks notability beyond her genealogy (WP:NOTGENEALOGY) and search results (along with looking at other language articles) yield nothing to establish notability either, and the one source that is cited for this page is deprecated. The best option I think would be to redirect to her husband or father's article. OliviaRigby (talk) 00:23, 3 August 2026 (UTC)reply

Category:Name changes due to the George Floyd protests

[edit]
Nominator's rationale: the spirit of WP:SHAREDNAME, WP:NOTDICTIONARY, and WP:NONDEFINING
During 2020, a number of institutions revisited the racist meanings behind their long established names and finally updated them to be more representative. The old name is often in the intro with maybe a sentence on the rename but that doesn't seem defining as the actual topics have nothing in common creating a jumble of articles unlikely to aid navigation. This includes the Thick-billed longspur bird (née McCown's longspur), Hotel 24 South (Stonewall Jackson Hotel), America's Best Chew (Redman Chewing Tobacco), The Chicks (Dixie Chicks), Edy's Pie (Eskimo Pie), John R. Lewis High School (Robert E. Lee High School), and Wunaamin Miliwundi Ranges (King Leopold Mountains). This could still work if we had enough articles specifically on the name changes but we only have Cleveland Indians name and logo controversy and Washington Redskins name controversy while the third one, 2020 Rhode Island Question 1, doesn't mention Mr. Floyd. We already have List of name changes due to the George Floyd protests for any reader interested in this topic. - RevelationDirect (talk) 01:34, 3 August 2026 (UTC)reply

Category:Edinburgh Festival performers

[edit]
Nominator's rationale: textbook WP:PERFCAT and WP:NONDEFINING
Greg Davies, Hannah Gadsby, and Space Cowboy are stars who have performed in many venues, including the the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. In practice, the comedy subcategory is also a performance category which is not remotely defining for Joan Rivers, John Hegley, or Imran Yusuf. No objections to list articles but this leads to category clutter because prominent performers are prominent because they get booked for many performances. - RevelationDirect (talk) 01:09, 3 August 2026 (UTC)reply

Gregory Goyle Sr.

[edit]

No information about this Senior character at the target. As per the unsourced two-sentence stub that lasted a week in 2006, he is the father of Gregory Goyle, which is a 3-sentence bio that doesn't mention the father either. Delete as not helping the reader.

Goyle by itself is ambiguous as a surname and shouldn't target the Harry Potter character, as there is another character Rochelle Goyle, and a real person Raj Goyle. Jay 03:53, 3 August 2026 (UTC)reply
