Requesting German source for "Sinking of U-85" article: "Deutsche U-Boot-Erfolge von September 1939 bis Mai 1945"
[edit]- Busch, Rainer; Röll, Hans-Joachim (2001). "Deutsche U-Boot-Erfolge von September 1939 bis Mai 1945". Der U-Boot-Krieg 1939 - 1945. 3. E. S. Mittler & Sohn: 46–48. ISBN 3813205134.
{{cite journal}}: CS1 maint: periodical has ISBN (link)
For Sinking of U-85, seeking German resources on its defeat by USS Roper as the article is very biased towards the Americans. The book is cited in the sinking section on the Chinese article for U-85 and is classified as an "excellent article" (I'm assuming that is the Chinese version of "Good Article"). I believe the page numbers are 46–48, per the Chinese article's citation, but if they are not please send the correct pages.
Many thanks, Phoenix ‣ Talk // Contributions 17:10, 22 September 2026 (UTC)

Various from The Times archive
[edit]The Times archive is usually available via TWL, but our access is currently expired. In the meantime, does anyone have access to the following:
- "British School at Athens: New Director". The Times. 23 December 1913.
- "Obituary: R. M. Dawkins: The Living Greek Tradition". The Times. Vol. 53213. 6 May 1955. p. 13.

- "En peau de loup. Professors as cattle lifters". The Times. 2 August 1916. p. 9.
For Richard MacGillivray Dawkins. Yes, it's odd that he seems to have two obituaries: I wouldn't be surprised if they turn out to be the same article.

For Tua Jia Ka. I am working to promote the article to GA. I believe the article is already broad enough for GAN, but some extra sources wouldn't hurt. As the above are SPH articles published in the last 25 years, they cannot be accessed from home on NewspaperSG. They should be accessible via LexisNexis or NewsLink for those who have a National Library Board account.
Thanks, Icepinner (Come to Hakurei Shrine!) 13:10, 28 September 2026 (UTC)
- Couldn't find them in Nexis, I'm guessing they're a little too short to have been indexed or so. YuniToumei (talk) 13:27, 28 September 2026 (UTC)
- Hmmm, I swear I could've seen similar-sized Straits Times articles indexed on Nexis (namely those that were cited in North East Line and Sengkang/Punggol LRT). I can't also find them on Proquest, so only NewsLink is left... Icepinner (Come to Hakurei Shrine!) 14:04, 28 September 2026 (UTC)
Withdrawing request. The closest library to me is the National Library, Singapore – to get there from where I live, it's a rather... inconvenient journey via public transportation. However, I'll have to go into town tomorrow to run an errand, so I might as well do a source run at the National Library. Icepinner (Come to Hakurei Shrine!) 14:10, 28 September 2026 (UTC)

Sent the relevant entry (Bollaert) which I found on p. 64. This was a bit of a hassle to find; I had to look it up on google books to find out the initial of the explorer's name, and then flip through all the entries under the letter B until I could find text-match the google books preview snippet. You should have told me before which page you need if you already knew, or already limited it down to the entries under the letter B so that I don't have to find all that out myself. WorldCat lists many libraries with the journal, but most are older volumes; several libraries have volume 7 from 2004, which is the most recent I saw. But I didn't look at every library's holdings, so there might be a few that do have volume 8. --Usernameunique (talk) 19:20, 24 September 2026 (UTC)

This is a bit tricky, but I'm working on ru:Шестое измерение, with the goal of further translation into English. It's a computer game that was developed in Russia, but it also was released in Sweden under the "Det röda äpplets hemlighet" and "Mitt första flygäventyr".

It's apparently an online file but the website keeps failing and the archived versions have only a broken PDF. It's possibly too old to be under US copyright, too, but that doesn't help locating a copy. For Llullaillaco

(Side note: I had tried to access through TWL but was unsuccessful. I tried accessing through Science Direct but TWL wasn't one of the options. I tried going through TWL and choosing Science Direct, but when I did that, this proceedings wasn't one of the options. I didn't know to try Cambridge Core. Maybe there could be some help text indicating that?) --Trovatore (talk) 00:10, 30 September 2026 (UTC)
- The article's doi links to a "cambridge.org" url, and Cambridge University Press is a TWL partner. —Bruce1eetalk 00:16, 30 September 2026 (UTC)
- Yes, but if you follow the doi link and click on "Get Access", it takes you to Science Direct. Since Science Direct is also a TWL partner, you can see how there's a potential to get confused. --Trovatore (talk) 00:32, 30 September 2026 (UTC)
- Hmm, actually now it doesn't. I'm not quite sure how I wound up at Science Direct. But it was as a result of doing something that you'd normally do. --Trovatore (talk) 00:33, 30 September 2026 (UTC)

Article in Syzygy: Journal of Alternative Religion and Culture
[edit]- Graham, Harvey (2002). "Satanism: Performing Alterity and Othering". Syzygy: Journal of Alternative Religion and Culture. 11: 53–68.
For Dark Lily. There is a revised version of this in the book Contemporary Religious Satanism, which I have, but I have reason to believe the revised version does not have the content I need.

- @OhanaUnited Thank you for trying, but that is the version from Contemporary Religious Satanism, which I already have. As it notes on the bottom, "The chapter is a revised version of “Satanism: Performing Alterity and Othering”, SYZYGY: Journal of Alternative Religion and Culture vol. 11 (2002), pp. 53–68." I need to see the original version in SYZYGY to see if it has something. But thank you! PARAKANYAA (talk) 16:19, 2 October 2026 (UTC)
- Honestly, I could be wrong and the information I need might not be in there. Not super high priority I suppose and I don't think this journal is easy to find. So, {{resolved}}, whatever PARAKANYAA (talk) 16:29, 2 October 2026 (UTC)

Source about the Strandzha Commune
[edit]- Khadzhiev, Georgi (1982). Националното освобождение и безвластният федерализъм [National Liberation and Libertarian Federalism] (in Bulgarian). Sofia: Artizdat-5. pp. 99–148. OCLC 27030696.
I'm looking to cite specific page numbers for this source in the article about the Strandzha Commune. The Google Books link only allows fragmentary views, so it's difficult to find exact pages from it. If somebody can get me the section between pages 99 and 148, I will be able to cross-reference it with an English translation and finally cite some specific page numbers in the article. According to Worldcat, it's available in a number of libraries in the US and in the British Library in St. Pancras.

See the second paragraph under drafting on The Big Sleep. Ironically it's a sandwich of things I've verified and past edits. The first article is to check current scholarship against my sources. The second is a while we're at it... request. I'm short on tenure for TWL (cc: ScalarFactor).
