Wikipedia:WikiProject Deletion sorting/Discrimination
| Points of interest related to Discrimination on Wikipedia: Category – WikiProject – Alerts – Deletions – To-do |
This is a collection of discussions on the deletion and merging of articles related to Discrimination. It is one of many deletion lists coordinated by WikiProject Deletion sorting. Anyone can help maintain the list on this page.
- Adding a new AfD discussion
- Adding an AfD to this page does not add it to the main page at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion and neither does removing an AfD from this page remove it from the main page at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion. If you want to nominate an article for deletion, go through the process on that page before adding it to this page. To add a discussion to this page, follow these steps:
- Edit this page and add
{{Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/PageName}}to the top of the list. Replace "PageName" with the relevant article name, i.e. the one on the existing AFD discussion. Also, indicate the title of the article in the edit summary as it is particularly helpful to add a link to the article in the edit summary. When you save the page, the discussion will automatically appear. - You should also tag the AfD by adding
{{subst:deletion sorting|Discrimination|sig=~~~~}}to it, which will inform editors that it has been listed here. You may place this tag above or below the nomination statement or at the end of the discussion thread.
- Edit this page and add
- There are a few scripts and tools that can make this easier.
- Removing a closed AfD discussion
- Closed AfD discussions are automatically removed by a bot.
- Other types of discussions
- You can also add and remove other discussions (prod, CfD, TfD etc.) related to Discrimination. For the other XfD's, the process is the same as AfD (except {{Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/PageName}} is used for MFD and {{transclude xfd}} for the rest). For PRODs, adding a link with {{prodded}} will suffice.
- Further information
- For further information see Wikipedia's deletion policy and WP:AfD for general information about Articles for Deletion, including a list of article deletions sorted by day of nomination.

Fails WP:NEVENT. "School receives threatening email" is a WP:ROUTINE occurrence and the sourcing fails to demonstrate WP:SUSTAINED or WP:NEVENT passing coverage. PARAKANYAA (talk) 20:56, 2 October 2026 (UTC)

A clear news story, and we're WP:NOTNEWS. No evidence this is of any last ing consequence or changes. It's a random crime news story with a complete lack of notability. Canterbury Tail talk 21:47, 30 September 2026 (UTC)
- Note: this discussion has been included in the AfD sorting lists for the following topics: Crime, LGBTQ+ studies, and Canada. Shellwood (talk) 22:10, 30 September 2026 (UTC)
- Merge to List of acts of violence against LGBTQ people. I can't find any evidence of this having LASTING importance now, however there may be evidence in a week when this is closed; as this was quite a recent event. msk 22:22, 30 September 2026 (UTC)
- Note: this discussion has been included in the list of Discrimination-related AfD discussions. WCQuidditch ☎ ✎ 03:49, 1 October 2026 (UTC)
- Merge. As above to List of acts of violence against LGBTQ people, the information contained in the article would be better suited there. TheInsatiableOne (talk) 07:29, 1 October 2026 (UTC)
- Comment is it even notable enough to be in the lists? It's a single assault, with no motive confirmed for it as yet. Just because the victim is LGBTQ doesn't mean that was the reason. It's being looked into as a possible motive, but nothing is confirmed in any reference. Canterbury Tail talk 12:50, 1 October 2026 (UTC)
- Delete: Random news item, it happened and the media moved on. I don't see lasting notability. It doesn't meet criminal notability either. Oaktree b (talk) 14:46, 1 October 2026 (UTC)
- Delete, no lasting notability. PARAKANYAA (talk) 20:58, 2 October 2026 (UTC)
- JPMorgan homophobic scandal (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views) – (View AfD | edits since nomination)
- (Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs) · FENS · JSTOR · TWL)
There's a lot of things wrong here. First and most importantly, Wikipedia is not news and this is clearly a blip in the news. Secondly, the article basically validates the claims of the alleged victim stating that "Brian Larson was [...] fired [...] because of his sexual orientation" whereas WP:NPOV would require something along the lines of "Brian Larson alleges he was fired [...] because of his sexual orientation". Even the article's title is slanted as basically acknowledging that JPMorgan is homophobic (this has not been demonstrated, at least not yet) and that this story raises to the level of a "scandal" which seems an exageration at best. Pichpich (talk) 16:05, 30 September 2026 (UTC)
- Delete. Just saying NOTNEWS is probably enough of a justification for deletion. we have a whole big "screw you" to NPOV/DUE at the parent article that we can probably merge this article into if we can find out what the "numerous discrimination lawsuits" this article refers to are. msk 16:36, 30 September 2026 (UTC)
- Delete this particular event does not deserve a page of its own and can be added to the main page of JPMorgan Chase. However if the controversies/allegations section is too large perhaps a separate page can be created for it. Dz5t 8O12 (talk) 17:22, 30 September 2026 (UTC)
- Note: this discussion has been included in the AfD sorting lists for the following topics: Discrimination, Events, LGBTQ+ studies, and United States of America. Spiderone(Talk to Spider) 19:00, 30 September 2026 (UTC)
- Merge to the main JP Morgan chase article and the recent history section. Deleting this article is wiping that information entirely. I would be against that especially considering the relevance and importance of the subject. AadamentAardvark (talk) 19:46, 30 September 2026 (UTC)
- Delete the latest in the line of scandal attempt articles created by the article creator. Not news, not notable. Canterbury Tail talk 21:52, 30 September 2026 (UTC)
- List of symbols designated by the ADL as hate symbols (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views) – (View AfD | edits since nomination)
- (Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs) · FENS · JSTOR · TWL)
This article acts as an uncritical mirror of the ADL's "Hate on Display" database. Per WP:NOTDB, To provide encyclopedic value, data should be put in context with explanations referenced to independent sources.
It also fails WP:NLIST; for a stand-alone list to be considered notable, the group or set itself must be discussed as a distinct topic by independent RS. Merely compiling entries directly from the ADL's database does not satisfy these requirements. Paprikaiser (talk) 16:28, 28 September 2026 (UTC)

- Keep, again, less than a year after the last nomination. Passes NLIST: discussion, news, and mentions include . Reywas92Talk 16:51, 28 September 2026 (UTC)
- These same sources were presented in the previous AfD back in January, and yet none have been integrated into the article; it is still structured as a mirror for the database, with no secondary analysis, or anything covering its history or methodology. If the consensus is that coverage exists to write a proper encyclopedic entry about the database, the article should be converted into a narrative about the database itself; a good example is List of organizations designated by the SPLC as hate groups. Otherwise, WP:NOTDB will keep applying and the article will likely keep being nominated. Paprikaiser (talk) 21:08, 28 September 2026 (UTC)
- And it will keep being kept as long as WP:NEXIST remains in force. PARAKANYAA (talk) 02:45, 30 September 2026 (UTC)

- Keep per Reywas92, enough sources to meet WP:NLIST. Kelob2678 (talk) 17:15, 28 September 2026 (UTC)
- I'd say keep but there really should be more contextualization, as was discussed in the last AFD. PARAKANYAA (talk) 17:28, 28 September 2026 (UTC)
- Comment. I think the notable topic here is the database itself (the Atlantic article is good for that especially), and not merely a duplication of its contents. It would be good to single out some examples from it that have been particularly well discussed in sources, and the classes of things in it (acronyms, etc), but I don't think what's here now is ideal. I'd strongly support such a repurposing of the article for this, but I don't really have the chops or time to do that myself, unfortunately. –Deacon Vorbis (carbon • videos) 18:22, 28 September 2026 (UTC)
- Keep The topic is notable enough. It requires separate list like this one. WalkingDisks (talk) 12:21, 29 September 2026 (UTC)
- Keep: Meets GNG and NLIST. AfD is not for clean up and deletion is not a way to improve this article. // Timothy :: talk 02:42, 30 September 2026 (UTC)
