Wikipedia:WikiProject Deletion sorting/Brazil

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This is a collection of discussions on the deletion and merging of articles related to Brazil. It is one of many deletion lists coordinated by WikiProject Deletion sorting. Anyone can help maintain the list on this page.

Adding a new AfD discussion
Adding an AfD to this page does not add it to the main page at WP:AFD. Similarly, removing an AfD from this page does not remove it from the main page at WP:AFD. If you want to nominate an article for deletion, go through the process on that page before adding it to this page. To add a discussion to this page, follow these steps:
  1. Edit this page and add {{Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/PageName}} to the top of the list. Replace "PageName" with the relevant article name, i.e. the one on the existing AFD discussion. Also, indicate the title of the article in the edit summary as it is particularly helpful to add a link to the article in the edit summary. When you save the page, the discussion will automatically appear.
  2. You should also tag the AfD by adding {{subst:delsort|Brazil|~~~~}} to it, which will inform editors that it has been listed here. You may place this tag above or below the nomination statement or at the end of the discussion thread.
There are a few scripts and tools that can make this easier.
Removing a closed AfD discussion
Closed AfD discussions are automatically removed by a bot.
Other types of discussions
You can also add and remove other discussions (prod, CfD, TfD etc.) related to Brazil. For the other XfD's, the process is the same as AfD (except {{Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/PageName}} is used for MFD and {{transclude xfd}} for the rest). For PRODs, adding a link with {{prodded}} will suffice.
Further information
For further information see Wikipedia's deletion policy and WP:AfD for general information about Articles for Deletion, including a list of article deletions sorted by day of nomination.

This list is also part of the larger list of deletion debates related to South America.

Pablo (footballer, born March 1991) (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views) – (View AfD | edits since nomination)

Nothing to say about this football player other than his name, age, physical attributes, and outcomes of games that he played in. Should be deleted, as Wikipedia is not a database. silviaASH (inquire within) 06:36, 5 August 2026 (UTC)reply

Same situation than Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Hertz Dias. I also suggest a redirection to United Socialist Workers' Party. Svartner (talk) 05:21, 5 August 2026 (UTC)reply

Instrodi (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views) – (View AfD | edits since nomination)
(Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs· FENS · JSTOR · TWL)

There are no references on this article. Could not find any more sources on Instrodi and sources I could find on its parent organization, STRO, seem to not contribute to notability. Both likely fail WP:NCORP. ✶Quxyz✶ (talk) 14:07, 2 August 2026 (UTC)reply

I propose redirecting to Rio Grande do Sul because article has no references since 2006, and doesn't appear to meet full notability Majash2020 (talk) 01:26, 25 July 2026 (UTC)reply

  • Delete. I think either redirect will add more confusion than it solves, given that this name is shared by a park and a hill and they are not anywhere near each other. As someone doing a search I would rather get nothing than a redirect to a completely different location. M kuhner (talk) 19:08, 1 August 2026 (UTC)reply

This article seems to be a WP:HOAX. The pages content is literally IDENTICAL to Emboaca and Barra Grande except for the place names, and extremely similar to Mundaú, which were pretty much the page creator's only contributions to Wikipedia besides creating a possibly existent town article called Guajiru. Looking at the user contributions pages histories, except for Guajiru, all seem to be unsourced entirely and only bot and simple/auto edits have been made in the entire page lifespans. I suspect with the exception of Guajiru (but possibly also it too) all of them are hoaxes and should be moved to WP:HOAXLIST. MakaylaHippo1998 (talk) 01:37, 21 July 2026 (UTC)reply

  • Note: this discussion has been included in the AfD sorting lists for the following topics: Geography and Brazil. WCQuidditch 02:23, 21 July 2026 (UTC)reply
  • Delete – A quick search turned up only booking sites and an Instagram page for the place, but no official sources or news coverage to justify an article. Svartner (talk) 18:42, 21 July 2026 (UTC)reply
  • Keep per WP:NGEO, the hoax claims are out of place here as the village exists and that's verifiable, it's just a matter of cleanup (which I have started to perform) and expansion. Several things in the article are also correct and verifiable, eg. being a fishing village can be easily sourced, eg. Lonely Planet Brazil guide calls it "fishing village" and this book has a whole chapter about the village (Turismo e Emprego em Flecheiras) and spends at least a paragraph about its fishing activities. Side note, the book reports a population of 3,070 as of 2002, which is a significant figure. This other book also talks about its fishing activities and mentions its tourism development. I see enough sources in Google Books (even if most of them only show snippets) for a decent article. Cavarrone 05:46, 29 July 2026 (UTC)reply
