Announcements

Collapsing announcements over 90 old

• The template {{Infobox NCAA team season}} now supports Associate head coach. To use, replace
  |AsstCoach1=
  with
  |assoc_coach=

• The template {{Infobox NCAA team season}} is no longer supporting the |sex=women parameter. Rather than use that parameter, replace
  |mode =basketball
  with
  |mode= Women's basketball
FYI, BigDan made quite a few changes, I reviewed all entries in Category:College women's basketball team seasons in the United States and changed where needed.--SPhilbrick(Talk) 01:40, 12 August 2013 (UTC)

• I updated the templates

• {{CBB roster/Header}} and
• {{CBB roster/Player}}

The Header template had a sex parameter, it now modifies the title (as before) AND suppresses the weight column

The Player template did not have a sex parameter, I added one, which suppresses the weight column --SPhilbrick(Talk) 15:21, 1 September 2013 (UTC)

• I changed the way the table in List of current NCAA Division I women's basketball coaches is generated. Rationale at the talk page--SPhilbrick(Talk) 14:22, 15 September 2013 (UTC)
• I converted this page to have tabs, this one (main) and four others. Let's talk if this organization change isn't ideal.--SPhilbrick(Talk) 12:03, 27 September 2013 (UTC)
• I removed the tables in US College Division 1 itemizing Year by year summaries to be done and completed; the information is redundant to the new Group tables, and easier to update in the Group tables.--SPhilbrick(Talk) 12:02, 5 October 2013 (UTC)
• I added Conference current year standings templates to the US College Division 1 task list (already completed for current year)--SPhilbrick(Talk) 12:15, 5 October 2013 (UTC)
• Now that we have conference standings templates, we need to keep them updated. I added a collapsed table to the US College Division 1 tab, with a list of all the templates, and a link at the top to the ESPN site with Current standings.--S Philbrick(Talk) 14:34, 10 November 2013 (UTC)
• I have updated many of the standings templates the last couple days, but will be unable to until 19 November--S Philbrick(Talk) 12:34, 14 November 2013 (UTC)

I will be updating the standings templates daily. It may not be until the morning after the games have been completed, but I will be updating them daily. Also, in regards to the standings templates, do not add women's to every team name. For example, Lamar's women's basketball team is the Lamar Lady Cardinals, not the Lamar Cardinals women's basketball team, and certainly not the Lamar Lady Cardinals women's basketball team. If there is an extra word, usually Lady (it is Sugar for Central Arkansas), then that takes the place of women's. In some cases (Southern Utah), the Lady isn't needed. The men's team is the Thunderbirds, and the women's team is the T-Birds. If the men's and women's teams go by different names, then it isn't the women's basketball team. It is just the Lady Cardinals basketball team. Bigddan11 (talk) 18:54, 15 November 2013 (UTC)

I believe I have fixed all the team names, and ESPN fixed their standings and records, so things seem to be progressing nicely.--S Philbrick(Talk) 14:33, 21 November 2013 (UTC)

• I've been updating the standings templates daily that haven't been updated by others.

It is tedious, so I'm going to see if I can get a bot to do it. In addition, I'm going to stop updating the ones that have no links to team pages.

I added a linefeed to the ones I have updated to move the as of date to a consistent position on the left.

I have been fixing the Southland error, but just realized I have to redo the sort, so I started doing that today.--S Philbrick(Talk) 14:23, 27 November 2013 (UTC)

• Work is in progress on a standings bot, which should take over the automated updating of the standings templates. See User:BasketBallStatsBot--S Philbrick(Talk) 21:38, 3 December 2013 (UTC)
• Draft of Wikipedia:WikiProject Basketball/Existing team year articles started, feedback requested, see this section
• The grouping of conferences on the US_College_Division_1 page into four groups was quasi-arbitrary and not obvious, so I regrouped using alphabetic order. I still maintained four groupings due to the size.
• Per suggestion of newest member User:GiantSnowman, I created a new tab for desired articles. Feel free to add to the list, or create one.
• I added a table to the WNBA page to keep track of making sure that rosters are current
• The WBCA revamped their site over the last weekend of June, breaking virtually all the links to the site. Cleanup status on on the US College Division 1 tab
• I added 2 new columns to the D1 tables to keep track of completed team pages and rosters for 2015 – 16
• {{Infobox basketball biography}} now supports links to stats at basketball-reference.com for WNBA players, thanks to Bagumba. Use "bbr_wnba" rather than "bbr" or see Svetlana Abrosimova as example
• I don’t know if this will take off, but there is an ability to add hashtags to edits. At the moment this can be used to hear any time an edit is made with a hashtag. I unilaterally decided that #NCAAWBB would be an appropriate hashtag for edits to women’s basketball articles related to college teams. Go to this page to identify hashtags that should generate a tone for you. I’ve tried it and it seems to work.
• I am currently working on wbb rankings pages, such as 1993–94 NCAA Division I women's basketball rankings. Unfortunately, the NCAA source document occasionally has errors. In the case of the AP poll this site is helpful, and if I know the particular school, sometimes their media guide will help. However, I haven't found a good source for historical USA Today rankings other than the most recent decade. If anyone knows of a good resource, please let me know.--S Philbrick(Talk) 15:47, 30 September 2017 (UTC)
