Template aside

Template:Aside probably needs a bit of love (its sole contributor likely left the project seven years ago).

Specifically:

1. Use as a wrapper: If and when T104770 is resolved, I feel this template would best serve the community if its use as a wrapper still rendered as it currently renders, that is, with encasing the parameter text within visible <aside></aside> tags.

2. Use as a page summary: Check the template's function as a page summary for errors. I tried replicating the listed example but could not get the template to display the text on my test page for this purpose: User talk:CapnZapp/asides/botunits. Do note I am not sure there are any bugs in the template code, it could well be that the documentation needs to better enumerate any limitations and/or prerequisites.

There are a lot of notices that use the red hand image in Wikipedia:Template index/User talk namespace/Multi-level templates. If one of those isn't applicable then you can probably adapt one of them into a new template. -MPGuy2824 (talk) 04:59, 13 May 2026 (UTC)

Brooklyn Eastern District Terminal 13

Brooklyn Eastern District Terminal (BEDT) No. 13 is a historic 0-6-0T steam locomotive built by the H.K. Porter Company in March 1919. Originally operating for the U.S. Navy at the Brooklyn Navy Yard, it later spent decades as a legendary switcher locomotive along the Brooklyn waterfront until its retirement.

History

Built in March 1919 (construction number 6369) as U.S. Navy No. 4, the locomotive was utilized at the Fleet Supply Base in South Brooklyn.

Acquired by the BEDT in 1922 and renumbered as No. 13, the diminutive steamer spent four decades moving incoming and outgoing freight cars along the Brooklyn waterfront.

On December 25, 1963, the BEDT retired its fleet of steam locomotives, ending an era. No. 13 was sold to Rail Tours Inc. to haul tourist excursions in York, Pennsylvania.

It was donated to the Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania in 1977 and remained on static display until being deemed surplus to the core collection in 2010. In October 2011, it was purchased by the Age of Steam Roundhouse in Sugarcreek, Ohio, where it is carefully preserved.

Banner for articles with too many images for Parsoid

For articles like List of flags by color combination that now have too many images to render, it would help to have a banner that could refer people to Help:Template limits#Images and maybe mention the "add ?useparsoid=0 to the URL" workaround. (I assume the app doesn't have URLs, hence why the phrasing below mentions browser.)

Potential phrasing:

This article has too many images to be rendered properly. Consider removing unnecessary images or splitting content into sub-articles.

If you are reading this in a browser, you can add ?useparsoid=0 to the end of this page's URL to force the images to render.

The closest existing template is probably Template:Citations broken from PEIS limit.

I'm not sure if a fix will come out of the Phabricator thread but given that some articles are largely unreadable in the meantime it would help to have something to explain the issue Placeholderer (talk) 18:54, 12 July 2026 (UTC)

Thought this request would a good excuse to get into template editing. Have a very rough draft here: User:FlammablePizza/Templates/Images Broken From Parsoid Limit (the name would be Template:Image rendering issues from Parsoid limit). Please note that its currently in userspace as I am trying this for the first time (and haven't really looked into if a template is a good fit for this yet). Arabic name hatnote/footnote

Arabic names, especially from the past but still so for several families, follow very distinct patterns from English. In such cases, we usually implement dedicated templates in order to have hatnotes (or footnotes) detailing the specific naming conventions in a certain language or culture – e.g. {{family name footnote}} or {{Portuguese name}}. For Arabic, we only have Lebanese conventions available at {{fne}}, {{fnh}} and {{fnf}}, but (as detailed here) patronymics are not limited to Lebanon and there are many more name features that need to be explained. Is anybody able to expand the existing templates or to create a separate one where parameters may be used in accordance with specific name cases? ~ IvanScrooge98 (talk) 07:49, 27 July 2026 (UTC)
