Minutes of meeting

[edit]
  • Wikimedian trainers were welcomed with a night of celebratory dances and dinner as they arrived in SMK Bugaya 2 the night before the supposed event.
  • On the day of the event, it started off with an opening ceremony and the signing of the Memorandum for Collaboration between Wikimedia Community User Group Malaysia and SMK Bugaya 2.
  • Around 200 students from various national secondary schools around Semporna and Sandakan attended the event, though many students were not able to bring any devices to use for Wikimedia projects as their schools did not allow them to bring their smartphones. They only followed along with the workshops through note-taking.
  • Tofeiku conducted the workshop while Ultron90 and Zahirulnukman assisted the students with issues in making accounts and guided them in inputting words in Wiktionary.
  • This was quite a large event with national secondary school students attending. It was not easy to teach everyone properly due to the venue's limitations as well as poor internet connectivity in the area.
  • Nevertheless, about 359 East Coast Bajau words were added to the Malay Wiktionary and 33 new images were uploaded to Wikimedia Commons.
  • A short photowalk was also conducted around Semporna by Ultron90 and Zahirulnukman in the following days after the workshop event.
