To report an error in content currently or imminently to appear on Main Page, use the appropriate section below. Reports should contain:
- Where is the error? An exact quotation using {{!xt}} of the text in question helps.
- Offer a correction if possible using {{xt}}.
- References are helpful, especially when reporting an obscure factual or grammatical error.
- Time zones. The Main Page runs on Coordinated Universal Time (UTC, currently 08:30 on 6 August 2026) and cannot be adjusted to your local time zone.
- Can you resolve the problem yourself? If the error lies primarily in the content of an article linked from the Main Page, fix the problem there before reporting it here. Text on the Main Page generally defers to the articles with bolded links. Upcoming content on the Main Page is usually only protected from editing beginning 24 hours before its scheduled appearance. Before that period, you can be bold and fix any issues yourself.
- Do not use {{edit fully-protected}} on this page, which will not get a faster response. It is unnecessary, because this page is not protected, and causes display problems because this is not a talk page. (See the bottom of this revision for an example.)
- No chit-chat. Lengthy discussions should be moved to a suitable location elsewhere, such as the talk page of the relevant article or project.
- Actual errors only. Failures of subjective criteria such as taste or interestingness, or failure to divert enough DYK readers to articles that aren't new or recently improved, are not errors.
- Respect other editors. Another user wrote the text you want changed, or reported an issue they see in something you wrote. Everyone's goal should be producing the best Main Page possible. The compressed time frame of the Main Page means sometimes action must be taken before there has been time for everyone to comment. Be civil to fellow users.
- Reports are removed when resolved. Once an error has been addressed or determined not to be an error, or the item has been rotated off the Main Page, the report will be removed from this page. Check the revision history for a record of any discussion or action taken; no archives are kept.

[edit source]- 2013 New Brunswick python attack does a lot to imply guilt on the part of the python's owner, while only spending 12 words apiece in the lede and the body on the fact that he was acquitted. I don't think it's a deliberate hit piece, but a case where adding new sources to an article in real time has led to more weight being put on early hypothesizing than on the actual developments in the case. There's a WP:CONTROVERSYSECTION that opens with a paragraph on people not believing the official story, before saying
Though these objections were made, the possibility that the incident may be a homicide rather than an animal attack was ruled out by the RCMP
, and then only two paragraphs later presenting a theory that would explain the snake's unusual behavior. There's then an unchecked claim by the police that the owner "probably" broke regulatory laws. When the trial and acquittal are mentioned, the article doesn't get into the core question at issue, which is whether a previous escape attempt by the snake should have made the owner more cautious (because the snake tried) or less (because the attempt failed), which is a WP:DENIALS issue and means the reader has no context for the acquittal. There's also the question under WP:BLPCRIME of naming the owner at all, given that he is a private person who was not convicted of any crime (even criminal negligence, which is a relatively low bar compared to murder or manslaughter).All told, I don't think these are critical "Rewrite the article or blank it"-type issues, but I question whether this article should be featured on the Main Page in its current state. -- Tamzin[cetacean needed] (they|xe|🤷) 10:25, 5 August 2026 (UTC)- Yeah, I concur. That article could do with a rewrite / rebalancing. I've swapped it for Implosion of Radio Network House. Errors in the summary of the featured picture
[edit source]In "a medium-sized ovenbird native to South America" the link leads to Ovenbird (Seiurus aurocapilla), which states that "Despite its name, it is not in the ovenbird family of birds.". Since the POTD deals with Furnarius rufus, apparently the link should lead to Ovenbird (family) (Furnariidae). ~2026-43358-29 (talk) 08:29, 6 August 2026 (UTC)
