Weaponized Incompetence, also known as strategic incompetence, is a manipulative tactic which occurs when a person intentionally pretends to be incapable of completing a task properly in order for someone else to do it instead.[1][2][3][4][5] The core idea is that the incompetence can benefit the person who was assigned the task by means of shifting the responsibility to usually the person who originally assigned it to them. It is primarily seen in workplaces and relationships, both familial and interpersonal.[6][7][8][9]
