"Vamp City" (stylized in lowercase) is a song by American rappers Ken Carson and OsamaSon, released on August 26, 2026, from Carson's album reissue Xperiment - Cartunez. It marks the first official collaboration between the two rappers.[1][2][3]
Composition and lyricism
[edit]"Vamp City" runs one minute and 50 seconds.[4] Carson co-wrote the song with Amari Middleton, Star Boy, and Clif Shayne, where the latter two handled the music production for the track.[4] Additionally, Corey Moon handled the mastering and mixing.[4] According to Quincy Dominic of Rating Games Music, he labeled the track as chaotic, writing that the instrumental makes you feel like you're getting jumped.[5] According to Olivier Lafontant of Pitchfork, he called the track blistering due to the "abrasive 808s".[6] he also wrote how "Osama’s snotty chirp proving to be a nice foil to Ken’s muddy monotone."[6] Lyrically, Carson and OsamaSon rap about violence and confidence.[5]
Reception
[edit]Upon release, "Vamp City" generated positive reception from music journalists. According to Quincy Dominic of Rating Games Music, he rated the song a four out of five,[5] stating that the track was "hard as hell." In addition to that, he praised the production on the track, as well as Carson's chorus, calling it "slick, catchy, and gives the track something to latch onto amid all the madness."[5]
