The Top 25 Report

Prepared with commentary by Igordebraga, Hason-LEK-SIN, Bkissin.

We're still on "Netflix murder show" season, with the rest of the entries mostly in the usual sports, movies, and death.

RankArticleClassViewsImageNotes/about
1Lizzie Borden4,405,155 Despite the folk rhyme saying she gave her parents "40 whacks", the reality is that her father received 11 and her stepmother 18 or 19. #12's portrayal of Borden in #3 has increased interest in the case. Did you know that Lizzie Borden was not related to the Dairy and Glue company of the same name? This user didn't know this (or the 40 whacks misconception) until recently, and feels foolish. So now you've learned two things today!
22026 Asian Games1,247,942 It's the Asian Games once again! This time, it's held at Nagoya – which this writer has visited, and is where Expo 2005, Ghibli Park, SCMaglev and Railway Park, and Legoland Japan Resort, are located. 45 countries and two flagless Syrian refugees are contesting 469 events in 43 sports until next Sunday (4 October).
3Monster: The Lizzie Borden Story1,133,138 Like last year's Ed Gein season tried to show his impact on culture, the season on #1 goes on some tangents, mentioning another woman accused of having commited murders, Elizabeth Báthory, and one who did kill people (#6). And like all three preceding seasons it got massive Netflix views but bad critical reviews.
4Resident Evil (2026 film)1,124,195 A good video game movie? Some critics wouldn't go that far, but it's apparently better than expected. With a 96% on Rotten Tomatoes, director Zach Cregger may have figured out the formula! Now he has to make sure that formula doesn't get into the hands of the Umbrella Corporation!
5India at the 2026 Asian Games1,083,654 Of course, given how India is the third highest country where Wikipedia traffic comes from, it's no surprise that the India's presence at #2 is making their country-specific article to show up to our Report. For comparison, the Philippines, which is the ninth highest in the pageviews by country, only received 50 thousand views. Here's Harmanpreet Kaur, who is the captain of India women's national cricket team and brought them a gold medal on 22 September.
6Aileen Wuornos1,071,691 Before being taken by the Ryan Murphy/Ian Brennan anthology, the title Monster was used for the 2003 biopic of serial killer prostitute Aileen Wuornos, who murdered seven of her clients between 1989 and 1990 (there she was played by Charlize Theron uglied up by extensive make-up, winning her an Oscar). So the latest season of Monster (#3) has Murphy's recurrent collaborator Sarah Paulson as Wuornos in a sideplot that include her visiting the Borden home (that is currently a museum/hotel).
7Deaths in 2026991,013 Blackness sleeps on top of your slate bed
Don't you wish that you could see me dead...
82026 Asian Games medal table874,652 As of 26 September, the top three at #2 are: China with 176 medals, host country Japan with 129, and South Korea with 73. India (#5) is at 10th at 30 medals, while Singapore, where the writer with a "SIN" in their username comes from (no, not that, nor that), has 9 medals and ranked 19th. This author thought that comparing the number of medals as a percentage of the number of competitors sent would be a good idea... until they realised the numbers will change. Guess we'll have to wait till the end (4 October) to do that.
9Cindy Crawford786,307 Personal tragedy struck the famous supermodel, as her oldest child Presley (#24) died in a rehab facility at the age of 27 on September 20. This made the whole family show up as part of the top 10 on the day after, and you'll see their entries further down the list.
10The Paradise (2026 Indian film)759,020 Here's another Indian topic, but now we're shifting focus onto cinema. This one here, starring Nani as the leader of a struggling tribe in 1980s Secunderabad, was released on 24 September.
11Elizabeth Holmes711,191 The former Theranos CEO and convicted fraudster is back on the Top 25 following a new documentary by Lance Oppenheim and Nathan Fielder. You Can See Everything, which debuted at the 53rd Telluride Film Festival and will have a wide release in October, covers Holmes in the weeks before she serves her prison sentence. Critics love the movie, but why would they deceive you?
12Ella Beatty692,178 It's not surprising that the daughter of Warren Beatty and Annette Benning also became an actress. Ryan Murphy gave her a screen debut at Feud: Capote vs. The Swans, so his partner at the Monster anthology, Ian Brennan, followed suit providing Ella with the starring role of #1 at #3.
13Ted Kaczynski618,120 While #1 was never proven to have killed her parents, the Unabomber indeed caused 3 deaths and 23 injuries with his homemade explosives. And less than a week after #3 Netflix added a movie about him, Unabomber, where the professor-turned-hermit-turned-terrorist is played by Jacob Tremblay.
14Chad Gilbert598,758 A founding member of the punk rock band New Found Glory who also fronted his own groups (International Superheroes of Hardcore, Shai Hulud) and produced albums, he died in his sleep at the age of 45.
15Rande Gerber594,326 #9 followed a marriage to Richard Gere with eventually hitching up with this businessman, who made money on nightlife (restaurants, bars, and lounges) plus a tequila brand he founded alongside George Clooney. Thus he also had to mourn losing a son (#24).
16Killing of the Clancy children542,472 The internet seems to be obsessed (pun intended) with stories of crime, huh?
17Primetime (film)510,243 This film by Lance Oppenheim (who also co-directed the #11 documentary) covers the rise of the television show To Catch a Predator and its host, Chris Hansen. Hansen is not entirely pleased with the film and his portrayal by Robert Pattinson, and has vowed to make a documentary of his own. But critics approved Primetime and it already recouped its low $14.5 million budget.
18Lanterns (TV series)496,067 Marvel re-released Avengers: Endgame and it beat #4, #17 and Brad Pitt's latest to be the highest-grossing movie of the weekend (hype for Avengers: Doomsday is real!). The Distinguished Competition is issuing new episodes on the Green Lantern Corps on Sundays, and next month has in theaters an adaptation of a Batman villain much more unexpected than Joker.
19Christa Pike475,301 Riding off the current interest of #1, #3, #6 and #16 is another teenager woman killer currently on death row in Tennessee. Pike killed her Job Corps classmate in 1995 when she was 18 and was sentenced to death the next year, making her the youngest woman sentenced to death in the United States since 1972. Pike was scheduled to be executed on September 30, but an hour before her scheduled execution, the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit issued a stay of execution pending further review of thr case. This keeps Pike alive (and on our list) for at least one more week.
20Kaia Gerber468,611 #9's daughter is also a model with an extensive portfolio at 25, as well as some acting gigs. And sadly the reason for her entering is losing her older brother (#24).
21Hanuman Ansh464,468 After eight appearances, Spider-Man: Brand New Day, the second highest-grossing movie in India this year, is off this list. But fourth place remains in this biopic of Neem Karoli Baba - to left is an an image of Kainchi Dham, an ashram (a specific type of monastery) founded by him.
22Anna's Archive451,429 This is still here. Like Wikipedia, it's a depository of knowledge, but to download rather than read, and caring much less about copyright law.
23Modha Rathri445,797 Netflix added this Kollywood comedy drama about a wedding that only happens because the bride's mom (whose portrayer, Shelly Kishore, is to the left) disapproves of her daughter's boyfriend and thus arranges her to marry someone else.
24Presley Gerber401,632 #9 and #15's son also worked as a model like mom and sister #20, and even appeared alongside Cindy in her return to Pepsi commercials. Gerber struggled with mental health and addiction problems and was in a Los Angeles rehabilitation facility when he died on September 20 at the age of 27. Given his article was only created upon death, it was nominated for deletion, but has since been closed with a "no consensus" result.
25Riley Green355,496 As Ella Langley broke the record for most weeks atop the Billboard Hot 100 with the song "Choosin' Texas", a country singer who was rumored to be in a love triangle with her and Megan Moroney, Riley Green, earned extra attention for debuting as one of the coaches in the latest season of The Voice.

Exclusions

  • This list excludes the Wikipedia main page, non-article pages (such as redlinks), and anomalous entries (such as DDoS attacks or likely automated views). Since mobile view data became available to the Report in October 2014, we exclude articles that have almost no mobile views (5–6% or less) or almost all mobile views (94–95% or more) because they are very likely to be automated views based on our experience and research of the issue.
