Terranea Resort is hotel and resort located on Terranea Way in Rancho Palos Verdes, California.[5][6][7]
The Terranea Resort has 582 rooms as well as villas, bungalows and casitas.[1]
It also has eight dining venues.[8]
History
[edit]The Terranea Resort began construction in 1998 when Lowe Enterprises became involved in the project.[7] The 102-acre resort[7] opened in 2009.[9]
The location was originally home to a SeaWorld themed amusement park called Marineland of the Pacific.[3]
Terranea Resort was closed for a time during the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic and reopened with new safety protocols in place on June 12, 2020.[4] Terranea was later fined $3.3 million dollars for failing to rehire staff that had been laid off during the COVID crisis.[10]
Terranea’s location has also been featured in films and television series[1] such as Sea Hunt, The Aviator, This is 40 and Pirates of the Caribbean.[7]
The Terranea Resort restaurant Nelson’s is named after the character actor Lloyd Bridges played in the television series Sea Hunt, Mike Nelson, which was filmed in the waters by the cliffs of Terranea.[11]
