[edit]Created this template to insert a X mark picture ( 
) (also known as, cross mark, ballot X, etc) as a inline character, by using a short template tag ( {{X mark}} ) instead of this big IMAGE tag ( [[Image:Black x.svg|18px]] ), which is harder to remember also. Main intention is to use this, when a real picture is needed or preferable. Though using a simple (capital) "X" letter is best, faster & common alternative. Many web browser software are still unable to display the unicode (heavy Ballot X - cross) character ✘ by using the hex html code (✘). ~ Tarikash. — Preceding undated comment added 22:12, 6 June 2006 (UTC)
- What are the accessibility implications of using this? How does this affect users of screen reader programs?
- Before using please consider carefully if using Yes/No might be a clearer option, or otherwise expressing the same information as prose.

[edit]Newbzy: I'm not sure if your fix was a good idea. I just edited Cakelot1's page User:Cakelot1/Maritime Republics, replacing five occurrences of {{X mark}} with {{cross|color=black|16}}<br> to fix div-span-flip lint errors caused by your edit. My fix seems to work, but your edit might cause other issues elsewhere. I am not necessarily asking you to revert, but please be aware that there might be further issues. —Anomalocaris (talk) 19:25, 10 December 2025 (UTC)
