Point to wikivoyage-old?

[edit]

Wikivoyage is currently in beta, so maybe we should point it to wikivoyage-old for now? We should wait until the cleanup is finished before publicizing the new WMF project. sumone10154(talk) 01:33, 11 November 2012 (UTC)Reply

The template should not be added at all now, until Wikivoyage is out of beta and we "officially launch". Also, we would want it in the usual "right-aligned box with a picture" format, like is done for other sister projects. JamesA >talk 06:39, 11 November 2012 (UTC)Reply
I think linking to Wikivoyage-old would be better than linking to Wikitravel (see discussion here). sumone10154(talk) 06:58, 11 November 2012 (UTC)Reply
Yes, certainly don't link to Wikitravel! Possibly we can just blank the template for when Template:Wikitravel is replaced with this one. If we link to Wikivoyage-old, there's a possibility that Google's web-crawler may form a hierarchy around the old site and ignore the new one as a duplicate! Not showing up

[edit]

I see the template on the Russia and Finland edit pages, but there's nothing on the main pages where it's supposed to be...Why is that?Smarkflea (talk) 01:47, 28 November 2012 (UTC)Reply

A user has placed an extra <noinclude> to temporarily disable display of the template as Wikivoyage recently moved from its own servers (Wikivoyage eV, Germany) to Wikimedia's servers on Nov 10, 2012. Wikivoyageurs are still sorting through thousands of images to determine which ones will move to Commons. Presumably the template will be re-enabled when this is completed. Just noticed the Sister project links template doesn't include WiVo... Smarkflea (talk) 03:55, 12 February 2013 (UTC)Reply

Bug

[edit]

There appears to be an implementation issue with the template. The link that is generated by the template is a Q wikidata, as page name + # + Q wikidata number. This of course doesn't take the user anywhere within the linked article. Rosspotter (talk) 02:22, 9 September 2022 (UTC)Reply
