There are 38,780,844 registered editors!

Whilst almost true^[1], I'm wondering if this is a bit optimistic and misleading. Most of those people will never edit again.^{[citation needed]} I don't think we have a rigorous definition of "active editor", let alone an actual count, but that might be a more meaningful figure.

[1] it's actually the number of accounts, and a few editors have multiple accounts for good or bad reasons
