Improving some legends for better general understanding

"NX" and "NX2" for Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 does not make much sense. NS and NS2 are far more understandable for the general public. NX was just a codename for the first Switch.

Also, "XBO" is more concise than Xone, and more in line in the pattern aplied to Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S (along with other platforms that use compound names), which use acronyms instead. ~2025-39220-31 (talk) 21:43, 9 December 2025 (UTC)

The XBO suggestion is a change I've been considering recently. Xbox consoles are annoying because there's no consistency with them, no matter what I do (Xbox has no acronym, Xbox 360 is usually just called the 360, and XSX/S leaves off the B). So I kind of gave up trying to make them consistent and just picked one from the 2 pages this template came from. I'm fine making this change when I get through my current project.

The Nintendo Switch stuff I'm more split on. The only really agreed upon shortening of the console seems to be Switch and Switch 2, which is too long. As far as I've seen, no one uses NS for either console. And while the NX at least is used for the Switch 1, no one uses NX2. So I'm not sure any acronym I could use here would be clearer at this point 13akoors (talk) 00:05, 10 December 2025 (UTC)

I understand your point, but maybe it could be simple as that:

Switch: NS

Switch 2: NS2

Xbox 360: X360

Xbox One: XBO

Xbox: Xbox

These are already used in articles like "2025 in video games" (and some others).

Things like leaving off the B in XSX/S should not matter in my opinion, people who know the consoles can easily conclude it's Xbox Series X/S and there is the platform descriptions anyways. ~2025-39220-31 (talk) 14:31, 11 December 2025 (UTC)
