Use of a template
[edit]This template makes no sense at all, it is better to replace it with (POW), as if the person surrendering goes into captivity anyway. And also this template is somehow not used, because in similar situations reviewing the conflicts, it is the POW template that is put for the most part. Orginalny (talk) 16:20, 17 February 2025 (UTC)
- I agree that the template does not make much sense. Virtually every conflict ends in a surrender of some kind. This template is being used willy-nilly to just put white flags on the side that lost the battle. For example, the Battle of Agincourt lists all of the French commanders as either killed or surrendered. Killed makes sense because it is significant. Surrendered doesn't because it just indicates that they lost. It's as significant as a symbol next to the victor side saying that they were victorious. There is already a "Results" field for indicating who won the battle. I agree with Orginalny that (POW) makes more sense, because it indicates that someone was captured as opposed to admitting defeat. lethargilistic (talk) 17:09, 27 August 2025 (UTC)
