changes that ruin the whole point of this template

[edit]

I know I don't own this, but is it too much to ask that people not come in and randomly change this to serve a different purpose without even trying to discuss it first? I've just undone this edit which changed it to say "moved". Referred elsewhere does not necessarily mean moved. That would be another template. If one advises a reporting user that they are in the wrong venue and then advises them of multiple options, "moved" is not the correct closing statement. "Reffered elsewhere" is. That is what this is for. We already have {{Moved discussion}} for when it has actually been moved anyway. Beeblebrox (talk) 17:12, 20 December 2011 (UTC)Reply

a/an

[edit]

Is there any way to make this template recognize whether the BASEPAGENAME starts with a vowel or consonant, and then use "a" or "an" grammatically? I first noticed this template at the Administrators' Noticeboard, where the initial vowel makes it ungrammatical. If that's not easy, how about this language: "This is not an issue for BASEPAGENAME. Referred elsewhere."--Aervanath (talk) 22:18, 15 January 2012 (UTC)Reply

I'm afraid this template represents the upper limit of my coding abilities so I don't know if that could be done, but your proposed wording would be a simpler fix anyway. Beeblebrox (talk) 21:37, 16 January 2012 (UTC)Reply

Template:NOTHERETemplate:Referred elsewhere – In its current state, someone may confuse this with the blocking template for users who are "NOTHERE". JJP...MASTER![talk to] JJP... master? 14:35, 5 January 2021 (UTC)Reply
