Tests

[edit]

This optional subst magic is still new, therefore I better test it below. -- Omniplex 15:09, 23 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

{{Pagelog}} - default unsubst'ed
{{Pagelog|Template:!}} - ditto no default
{{Pagelog|Template:!|test}} - with link text
The same experiment with subst: plus subst=subst:
No parameter resulted in page log
One parameter resulted in page log
Two parameters resulted in test
See wikitext, all parser functions subst'ed.

Simplifying usage of Page Log template

[edit]

I think displaying the title of the target article using just one parameter would make the template less unwieldy to use. The only way to display the title would be to put {{Page log|Antidisestablishmentarianism|Antidisestablishmentarianism}}; typing {{Page log|Antidisestablishmentarianism}} just outputs page log instead of Antidisestablishmentarianism. However, the main concern of implementing this proposed design is that the change could disrupt templates that display "page log" by default (e.g. Talk:MIME/Archive 1#broken link: MailCap).
