Unknown parameters

Cite issues

So I've been looking into the NRIS/NRHP lately, and I think we could make improvements. The current template links to the overall NRIS database record, which acts as a container for the nomination form, photos, and any other related files. It's the best choice when you're simply stating that a property is listed on the National Register. However, sometimes you want to link to a specific, authored primary source document. It's the best choice when the information you're using comes directly from the text written (or photo) by that author in that form. For example the nomination form. This is a very common scenario.

Example citing a Nomination Form:

Gilbert, Kathleen (1980). National Register of Historic Places Inventory—Nomination Form for Bankard-Gunther Mansion (Report). Baltimore, Maryland: CHAP / HCRS. NRHP 80001781, MD B-3600 – via National Park Service.

Compare with the NRISref version:

"National Register Information System – Bankard-Gunther Mansion (#80001781)". National Register of Historic Places. National Park Service. July 9, 2010.

Again, this refers to the NRIS database record which contains multiple source documents.

Another issue is the template displays "#80001781". I've done some research on this, and believe the better/correct method is "NRHP 80001781". The formal full name would be "National Register of Historic Places reference number 80001781" and the most common abbreviation is "NRHP reference number 80001781".

We have 10s of thousands of citations directly to the nomination form, usually cite web. I think this can be improved somehow. In addition there is state level: and

Edit request to add 2024 points, 2025 database

I'd like two versions added to NRISref:

• 2024point - Geospatial dataset updated August 28, 2024. Downloaded from this link: https://irma.nps.gov/DataStore/Reference/Profile/2305746
• 2025a - Spreadsheet of NRHP listed and removed properties, updated June 24, 2025. Downloaded from this link: https://www.nps.gov/subjects/nationalregister/data-downloads.htm

I'm not sure if the download site really makes a difference, or if we just want to list the date and call it good. Why can't I see the NRIS info in infoboxes?

NONE of the NRHP articles' infoboxes that I have checked has a link to the property's information off of the Template:NRIS. All I can see is something that looks like this

NRHP reference No.(%d+) (increase)

(%d+) (decrease)

Can this be possibly correct, that this strange garbled code or text is what shows up in every article's NHRP infobox, including Mount Vernon, Paul Revere House, Pierce–Hichborn House, National Civil Rights Museum, etc. Some of the infoboxes have the Historic District ID if the structure is part of a historic district and that number does connect up to the NP Gallery Asset Detail information but shouldn't readers be able to see the actual NRIS info and not that increase/decrease text? It looks like @Zackmann08: is doing some work on Template:Infobox NRHP that isn't quite working yet, and I'm guessing it's what caused this. I'm not sure what the most recent stable version is, but it may be best to revert to it for now. TheCatalyst31 ^{Reaction•Creation} 02:56, 27 July 2026 (UTC)

Ok figured out the error. Made a bizarre typo in the bajillion nested if statements. I tested it on all 4 of the pages linked to above.
