Deprecating the net_worth parameter
[edit]In July 2021, the |net_worth= in {{Infobox person}} was deprecated. Should it be deprecated here as well? — DaxServer (talk) 12:07, 14 January 2022 (UTC)

Lawyer/Attorney Parameter
[edit]Where a substantial percentage of criminals will have had a lawyer appear for them, it would make sense for the infobox to have a spot to list the prominent lawyer who defended them, etc. Virginia Courtsesan (talk) 02:06, 28 May 2023 (UTC)
Change "Partner" parameter
[edit]In Template:Infobox person, the partner parameter is for "unmarried life partners in a domestic partnership", and is thus confusing. Can this be changed to something along the lines of "accomplice" or a similar term? ☾Loriendrew☽ ☏(ring-ring) 17:12, 19 August 2023 (UTC)
RfC: Add "Criminal Charges" clarification
[edit]The guideline currently states that the "criminal_charges" parameter is "What the criminal is accused of (note that this is different from what the criminal is -- later -- convicted of)". Obviously the person can't be a criminal if they've only been accused of a crime, or even charged with one. However this Infobox seems to be restricted to use with notable convicted criminals. So this would imply that "criminal_charges" in this case relates solely to crimes they are currently wanted for (ie. which they have not been tried for yet).
I think there's a chance this parameter could be used to list charges that did not lead to convictions after being processed in the legal system (either because they were dropped, dismissed or otherwise found not-guilty). A short note could help clarify the correct use cases:
"What the criminal is currently wanted to be tried for. Do not list charges that were dropped, dismissed or which went to trial and did not lead to conviction."

- I don't think an RfC was the right move here. On the prospective change, I am neutral. PARAKANYAA (talk) 19:53, 29 May 2024 (UTC)

Hi. There's a typo in the list of excluded parameters in |_exclude=. motice should be changed to motive. thanks. Jeeputer Talk 18:00, 22 August 2024 (UTC)
- Just noticed that
motiveis present at the end of the list. somoticeshould be removed form the list instead. Jeeputer Talk 18:09, 22 August 2024 (UTC)
Partly done: Renamed to motive; not sure about removing it entirely. Feel free to reopen if you think it should be removed. SWinxy (talk) 20:57, 22 August 2024 (UTC)

The "Partner(s)" parameter should be changed to "Partner(s) in crime" to avoid ambiguity about romantic partnership. "Accomplice" could also work, per @Loriendrew. ꧁Zanahary꧂ 19:38, 16 November 2024 (UTC)
Completed – the header is now "Accomplice(s)" and both |accomplices=and|partners=work as parameters, the latter so as not to break existing usages. P.I. Ellsworth , ed. put'er there 13:24, 17 November 2024 (UTC)- Thanks! ꧁Zanahary꧂ 06:43, 18 November 2024 (UTC)

"Criminal status: Deceased"
[edit]"Criminal status: Deceased" proliferates on Wikipedia, but a better solution for dead people is to delete the field from their articles. "Deceased" is not a "criminal status", and it will be extremely obvious from the rest of an article if a person is dead. cagliost (talk) 14:38, 26 January 2025 (UTC)
Can someone help me figure out why Category:Pages using infobox criminal with unknown parameters (0) is so full? I can’t see any issues with the pages in the category… -Zackmann (Talk to me/What I been doing) 05:44, 2 September 2025 (UTC)
- @Zackmann08 I assume one of the parameters is not recognized, or maybe a variation? When I removed a chunk of categories here it removed them from the category, so it seems to be one of the ones I removed then restored. Actually it does not seem to have added it back when I restored it. Odd. PARAKANYAA (talk) 05:48, 2 September 2025 (UTC)
- @Zackmann08 Okay, literally just making any edit seems to remove it from the category. Null edits may work too. PARAKANYAA (talk) 05:50, 2 September 2025 (UTC)

- @PARAKANYAA: what I don’t understand is why Module:Check for unknown parameters is not displaying an error message at the top of the page when previewed… Zackmann (Talk to me/What I been doing) 05:50, 2 September 2025 (UTC)
- To take the first page in the category, Giuseppe Musolino, this certainly shows warning messages when previewed (three in total); it has those last three parameters are the invalid ones. --Redrose64 🌹 (talk) 22:32, 2 September 2025 (UTC)

- @Redrose64: thanks! That one makes total sense… What I don’t get is for example George Curry (Wild Bunch). It doesn’t display any invalid parameters but is still categorized. —Zackmann (Talk to me/What I been doing) 00:05, 3 September 2025 (UTC)
- So it looks like PARAKANYAA (talk · contribs) was spot on. I ran User:Ahecht/Scripts/refresh on the category and cleaned it out pretty well. —Zackmann (Talk to me/What I been doing) 00:43, 3 September 2025 (UTC)

Description of suggested change:
Nolle prosequi does not mean, "can't prosecute because the perpetrator is dead." There are many reasons the perpetrator might die before they can be prosecuted, don't try to list them.
Diff:

Not done: It looks like you want to change the documentation page which is not protected. Zackmann (Talk to me/What I been doing) 18:11, 25 January 2026 (UTC)
- My bad. I didn't realize the doc was transcluded from an unprotected page. Apologies. Isaac Rabinovitch (talk) 19:43, 25 January 2026 (UTC)
