Functioning as advertised?

[edit]

Greetings,

I've come across a case where two train timetables were added to the Tyne and Wear Metro article using a {{gallery layout content}} / {{gallery layout content end}} template pair that was implemented as outlined in the template documentation to wrap the DIV-encased tables. This unexpectedly generated a Linter stripped DIV tag error despite every instance of DIV between the templates having a corresponding /DIV.

Removing either the last /DIV tag or the {{gallery layout content end}} clears the Lint error without changing how the wrapped content renders, almost as though {{gallery layout content}} is applying its own /DIV even when the '1=' arg isn't passed. Unfortunately this 'fix' then creates a seemingly imbalanced situation... either a gallery template without a corresponding end template, or a DIV without a corresponding /DIV.

In any case, replacing the gallery template pair with {{div col}} / {{div col end}} resolves this particular issue with no apparent rendering impacts, but could someone have a look into why the gallery templates seem a bit hinky in the given scenario.

Thanks! — SirOlgen (talk) 00:29, 23 January 2026 (UTC)Reply
