Why not just use the em-dash character, instead of transcluding? Ohmsteader (talk) 19:25, 7 April 2025 (UTC)Reply

Modern keyboards don't usually have the em-dash character easily accessible. Writing — or {{em dash}} may be easier for editors than copy-pasting the character (—) directly. The hyphen and dashes (take a look at them in the wikitext: -,‒,–,—,―) are also hard to distinguish on the Source Editor, so using the aforementioned options makes editing easier. Discussion at Template talk:Zero width joiner em dash zero width non joiner

[edit]

In addition to changing how {{Zero width joiner em dash zero width non joiner}} is formatted, I have also proposed merging its functionality to {{Em dash}} at its talk page. Please consider participating in the discussion. —gabldotink [ talk | contribs | global account ] 22:10, 26 April 2026 (UTC)Reply
