Citation barnstar
[edit]We should extend this award for remarkable work on citations, not just adding citations to articles with no source. This tireless work is very important for the wiki. Can I make the change? Selbstporträt (talk) 16:07, 20 February 2026 (UTC)
- @Selbstporträt I support this. WikiPate (talk) 22:33, 3 July 2026 (UTC)
Idea for addition:

Sort by count
[edit]Hey, on the page are about 130 different barnstars. That makes it quite time-consuming to find a suitable one. In the upper part of the tables are barnstars which are very specialized and rarely used.
Hereby I propose to sort the barnstars of each table descending by count on user talk pages. In that way users can find a suitable barnstar of a category quicker. By that sorting hopefully barnstars will be given more often. Also it provides an incentive to create popular barnstars.
This is how it looks like: User:WikiPate/Wikipedia:Barnstars WikiPate (talk) 17:57, 5 July 2026 (UTC)
- That's a terrible idea. See below. — LlywelynII 08:14, 17 July 2026 (UTC)
What a mess
[edit]Wikipedia_talk:Barnstars/Topical redirects here. This message is about that page, not the general project.
I get that users like Pate above are concerned about clutter and sometimes forget CTRL+F exists but we need a single page with all the barnstars, organized either alphabetically or by group, not by most-popular-the-last-time-someone-could-be-bothered-to-check-years-ago. (I'd say that it'd be fine to have a constantly updated bot-curated list, but any AI agent used for it is probably going to get pretty pricy in the near future unless Wikimedia's got a bare-bones inhouse model for things like this.) That's what this page should be but currently it seems to be a misc. dumping ground for things people haven't realized 'should' go on Wikipedia:Barnstars/Barnstar of National Merit, Wikipedia:Barnstars/Barnstar of National Merit 2.0, or Wikipedia:Awards by WikiProject.
If we insist on having those separate lists, fine, but this one should include everything there as well so that editors can go to single place to find any barnstar they might need or be able to fairly authoritatively confirm that the star hasn't been made already. — LlywelynII 08:13, 17 July 2026 (UTC)
