Mistake on usage

The section on usage reads:

Usage: {{Anonblock|optional comments|sig=~~~~ (optional)}}

But a 1= is needed for the optional comments parameter to work, so it should be:

Usage: {{Anonblock|1=optional comments|sig=~~~~ (optional)}}

Unblock-en-l link

I've converted this to a section link. I'm well aware there is no "Emailing us" section on this template -- it's linking to a section on MediaWiki:Blockedtext, where there is such a section. The mailto: link encourages people to send messages without reading any of the relevant instructions, which has wasted a lot of time and effort in the past (they get to wait several hours for a "sorry, please send more information" email). If we really don't like a section link (or if we're concerned someone may change the section name) we could also link to a particular span id on the page. Deliberate. The blocked anon tries to edit the sandbox and gets the 'you are blocked' message which contains all the information necessary to email to the unblock list (anonblock doesn't know the information itself, because it's a template and not an interface message). --ais523 16:53, 19 June 2007 (UTC)

I am not sure it works like that. I tried it right now to check it. It goes to a page with some strange information (right now it is about RJ RON JOSEPH, it is a sandbox afterall and may change evry second). A new user would see that and I really doubt would understand what we want him/her to do. It seems confusing. That's because you can edit it. The people here are saying that if you were blocked from editing, you would see an 'email us' section rather than the actual edit page. Still seems a funny way of doing it though IMO. -- Cowplopmorris^Talk_Contribs 15:40, 25 June 2008 (UTC)

Anonymous user -> unregistered user

• WP:ANONYMOUS,
• WP:IP edits are not anonymous and
• Meta:Unregistered user.

I think referring to unregistered users as "anonymous users" is incorrect and confusing. Registered users who do not adopt their real name as their username are also anonymous. In fact, registered users are arguably more anonymous, since their IP address is hidden.

Also, the phrases "anonymous user" or "anon" are often used in a discriminatory way by editors who do not fully appreciate (yet) the value and potential of unregistered users.

In the spirit of calling a spade a spade, please change "anonymous users" in this template to "unregistered users". Thank you. 220.100.118.232 (talk) 21:10, 8 March 2011 (UTC)

No worries about not making the change, but being a picky linguist, "a username" is correct in American and Canadian English while "an username" is accurate in Indian English. Perhaps the form of English to be used could be clarified in replies in order to maintain a spirit of WP:Civil. Thank you!

Not done: {{edit protected}} is not required for edits to unprotected pages, or pending changes protected pages. You should be able to do this yourself. Use the "view source" tab to open the edit window of the live template; you should then be able to select the template's wiki markup and copy it to your clipboard. Return to the main template page, and at the bottom of the green documentation box, you should find an entry "Editors can experiment in this template's sandbox (create ..." Click the "Create" link; it'll pre-fill with some stuff that you don't need. Delete all of that, paste in whatever you copied from the live template, and save. --Redrose64 (talk) 23:41, 5 January 2014 (UTC)

I've found a group of mobile (changing) IPs, which IMHO should be blocked because they can be used for anonymous edits.
