Add belligerents on Iran's side

I propose adding Yemen (Supreme Political Council)—which would be the government under the Houthis—due to Houthi participation. I also propose including Kata'ib Hezbollah. Alexgt2007 (talk) 06:19, 26 July 2026 (UTC)Reply

I appreciate the inclusion of Ukraine and the Kurdish forces in the infobox; I look forward to the outcome of my request. Alexgt2007 (talk) 19:25, 26 July 2026 (UTC)Reply

Under Other parties in the left-hand belligerents column, add:

Ukraine Ukraine[1]

The Financial Times reports direct Ukrainian military action against an Iranian vessel, so Ukraine should be listed under “Other parties” rather than as a principal belligerent. Apricciardi (talk) 09:25, 26 July 2026 (UTC)Reply

That is, in the "I do it all" vein, an editor adds Ukraine to the infobox, just like he did for Yemen and others and the Iranian Kurds, without discussion or widespread requests for support. What's this new practice? ~2026-36818-47 (talk) 05:54, 27 July 2026 (UTC)Reply

The article must include Ukraine as an “Other parties” contributor due to reported military action against an Iranian vessel. Jptr11 (talk) 09:30, 26 July 2026 (UTC)Reply

Ukrainian involvement

When was Ukraine considered an allied power against Iran? ~2026-35064-69 (talk) 22:07, 26 July 2026 (UTC)Reply

Ukraine incident is totally irrelevant to the war. Belligerents columns should be revised. Hosein (talk) 08:14, 27 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
That is interesting. Randomperson122 (talk) 16:30, 27 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
Should this be in the "other parties" section of the nations agasint Iran for this regional conflict? Randomperson122 (talk) 23:29, 27 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
Not really. They still need to have one hell of a role in the conflict before getting there. GenuineArt (talk) 02:26, 28 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
Wikipedia is based on reliable sources, not our own opinions. Saying, "Ukraine attacked an Iranian ship, therefore Ukraine has joined the war" is original research. The sources say that Ukraine struck an Iranian vessel that was well inside Russian waters, and was being used to transport military cargo to Russia. That would make it part of the Russo-Ukrainian War, not the Iran War. – Asarlaí (talk) 09:11, 28 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
It should be verified whether the other Gulf countries included have actually carried out certain military attacks and declared to have done so, or whether these are just rumours written by the press. ~2026-36818-47 (talk) 11:10, 28 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
it is relevant as it could bring the two wars closer according to this article [1] Durranistan (talk) 16:43, 28 July 2026 (UTC)Reply

Edit request 27 July 2026

Description of suggested change: The United Nations, with international recognition, has only one state called Yemen, one president, and one official government. The Yemeni civil war, which began in 2014, created two (de facto) territories: one controlled by the Houthis, who also occupied the capital, Sanaa, and unrecognized, and the other, still under the same President Hadi, in office since 2012, who had to move to Aden (the provisional capital). Until 2022, there was only one president, Hadi, then the new and current president, Rashad al-Alimi, was appointed by a presidential council, partly because, unlike Hadi, he was appointed without elections, which could not and cannot be held.

Something done I removed the "de jure" which seemed to be unsupported by sourced text (added here without explanation—Wikitalovin1 is there something I'm missing?). I didn't add "de facto" because strikes are still ongoing to a degree, even if not apparently between the lead parties of the war, so it's not clear there's a de facto ceasefire either. I do think the sort-of-ceasefire happening now is best described in the article body rather than the infobox Placeholderer (talk) 17:21, 28 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
It is in fact a temporary cessation of bombing of Iran by the United States, which does not imply that they cannot attack ships for the blockade, and does not imply that attacks by Iran and other entities will occur. ~2026-36818-47 (talk) 19:29, 28 July 2026 (UTC)Reply

Ukraine now a participant?

Ukraine recently struck an Iranian flagged tanker. With Iran and Ukraine both threatening long range strikes on each other and or their resources/trade. ~2026-41893-43 (talk) 22:26, 28 July 2026 (UTC)Reply

Iran, Ukraine pledge to avoid escalation following deadly attack on Iranian ship. Iran's Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi said on Tuesday that his Ukrainian counterpart, Andrii Sybiha, has assured him that Ukraine's Saturday attack on an Iranian commercial ship was "unintentional" and that Ukraine "does not seek escalation." Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said on Saturday that his country's forces had hit a Russian warship and vessels used for transporting Iran-linked military cargo in the Caspian Sea. https://english.news.cn/20260729/24a3e8b7245d462d889ff2d17ac8fd52/c.html ~2026-36818-47 (talk) 23:25, 28 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
Too early to know if either side wants to push escalation but Zelensky meeting with Netanjahu on American soil suggests closer cooperation. JaredThornbridge (talk) 17:03, 29 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
There are currently listed belligerents that have less participation in this conflict than Ukraine. Clearly, Ukraine has engaged in belligerent actions against Iran and should be added to both the infobox and the body of the article (which doesn't even directly mention Ukraine's hostile violent actions against Iran). Edit request 29 July 2026 Add Mohammad Pakpour to infobox

Please change by adding Mohammad Pakpour (with an X to indicate his passing) to the infobox as an Iranian leader. This is clearly desirable as he was the commander-in-chief of the IRGC at the start of the war, and was replaced by Ahmad Vahidi, who appropriately IS listed on the commander list as living; clearly we agree this is one of the few roles that is worth listing, so the initial holder of this role should certainly be in the table.

Here's one source of many which are already in the article https://www.nytimes.com/2026/02/28/world/middleeast/israel-iran-assassination-khamenei.html.

Non-State Actors Against Iran in Infobox

Hello, I want to hear everyone's thoughts here on including non-state actors against Iran in the belligerents list of the Iran war infobox (also being extensions of ethnic conflicts that had begun long before). I've heard sources say in regards to Kurdish (Coalition of Political Forces of Iranian Kurdistan) and Balochi (People's Fighters Front) militant groups that the American-Israeli strikes had deliberately targeted Iranian military bases and border posts in the northeast and southwest regions to allow for incursions for the two separatist groups. And also in regards to Ahwaz Falcons, they claimed early involvement in raiding an Iranian base, although I hadn't heard of them again since. That said, Iran had definitely engaged in skirmishes against Kurdish and Balochi groups and had before accused Israel and the US of supporting them. What do you all think? Infobox photo

I believe the Infobox should feature photos of the war instead of a map, Photos would better emphasize the human scale and reality of the ongoing conflict. Cena332 (talk) 18:09, 5 August 2026 (UTC)Reply

I support this. The map is just a blue blob covering Iran now as well as a horde of red indicators. The map should be kept in the article body, but the infobox should instead feature a selection of images represent the war. Cortador (talk) 19:46, 5 August 2026 (UTC)Reply
