Template documentation

This is the WikiProject banner template used by WikiProject Mammals to keep track of articles within its scope. All articles are categorised into Category:WikiProject Mammals articles.

Basic usage

Place this on the talk page of relevant articles:

Parameters

• importance – see #Importance assessment below.
• category – set |category=no if, and only if, a banner is being used for demonstration or testing purposes, to prevent unnecessary or undesirable categorization. Otherwise, omit this parameter.

Notes and alerts

• attention – set |attention=yes if the article needs immediate attention from experienced editors. Use only if another parameter does not cover the need for attention; this should be used sparingly. It is strongly encouraged to also add a section to the talk page explaining what needs attention. This parameter populates Category:Mammal articles needing attention.
• needs-image – to request that an image or photograph be added to the page.
• imagedetails – additional text to insert before the words "be added to this article" to describe the subject or type of image that is requested.
• in – specify the location of the requested image. Will be categorised into Category:Wikipedia requested photograph in LOCATION, where LOCATION is the value of the |in= parameter.
• needs-audio – set |needs-audio=yes or any non-blank value other than "no", "n" or "0". The following message will be displayed: "It is requested that an audio file(s) be included in this article to improve its quality." This will populate Category:Wikipedia requested audio of animals.
• needs-taxobox – set |needs-taxobox=yes or any non-blank value other than "no", "n" or "0". The following message will be displayed: "It is requested that a taxobox be included in this article to improve its quality." This will populate Category:Missing taxobox.

Task forces

• Monotremes – set |Monotremes=yes if the article is supported by WikiProject Monotremes and Marsupials. This parameter populates Category:WikiProject Monotremes and Marsupials articles. This parameter populates the relevant subcategory of Category:Monotremes and marsupials articles by quality based on the |class= parameter in the banner shell.
• MonotremeImp – This parameter sets the importance of the article according to WikiProject Monotremes and Marsupials. It populates the relevant subcategory of Category:Monotremes and marsupials articles by importance. See #Importance assessment for valid values.
• Primates – set |Primates=yes if the article is supported by WikiProject Primates. This parameter populates Category:WikiProject Primates articles. This parameter populates the relevant subcategory of Category:Primate articles by quality based on the |class= parameter in the banner shell.
• PrimatesImp – This parameter sets the importance of the article according to WikiProject Primates. It populates the relevant subcategory of Category:Primate articles by importance. See #Importance assessment for valid values.
• Rodents – set |Rodents=yes if the article is supported by WikiProject Rodents. This parameter populates Category:WikiProject Rodents articles. This parameter populates the relevant subcategory of Category:Rodent articles by quality based on the |class= parameter in the banner shell.
• RodentsImp – This parameter sets the importance of the article according to WikiProject Rodents. It populates the relevant subcategory of Category:Rodent articles by importance. See #Importance assessment for valid values.
• Mustelids – set |Mustelids=yes if the article is supported by the Mustelids work group. This parameter populates Category:mustelids articles. This parameter populates the relevant subcategory of Category:mustelids articles by quality based on the |class= parameter in the banner shell.
• MustelidsImp – This parameter sets the importance of the article according to the Mustelids work group. It populates the relevant subcategory of Category:mustelids articles by importance. See #Importance assessment for valid values.
• Pocket-pet – set |Pocket-pet=yes if the article is supported by the Pocket pets work group. This parameter populates Category:Pocket pets work group articles. This parameter populates the relevant subcategory of Category:Pocket pets articles by quality based on the |class= parameter in the banner shell.
• PocketpetImp – This parameter sets the importance of the article according to the Pocket pets work group. It populates the relevant subcategory of Category:Pocket pets articles by importance. See #Importance assessment for valid values.
• Bats – set |Bats=yes if the article is supported by Bats Task Force. This parameter populates Category:Bats task force articles. This parameter populates the relevant subcategory of Category:Bat articles by quality based on the |class= parameter in the banner shell.
• BatsImp – This parameter sets the importance of the article according to Bats Task Force. It populates the relevant subcategory of Category:Bat articles by importance. See #Importance assessment for valid values.

Deprecated parameters

• listas – this parameter should be used with the banner shell template, not on individual project banners. Please see Template:WikiProject banner shell for details.
• class – this parameter should be used with the banner shell template, not on individual project banners. See WP:PIQA for more details.
