Template:WikiDonation/doc
 | This is a documentation subpage for Template:WikiDonation. It may contain usage information, categories and other content that is not part of the original template page. |
 | This template should always be substituted – use {{subst:WikiDonation}}. Any accidental transclusions will be automatically substituted by a bot. |
Usage
[edit]In response to a query in WP:Teahouse or HELP:DESK you can simply reply with {{subst:WikiDonation}} or {{subst:HD/Donation}} which will respond with an explanation how to disable fundraising appeals and register an account if need be, for IP editors. It is substituted, so that your version of text stays the same. If you use source mode, you need to manually include a signature.
Motivation
[edit]Opinions about fundraising aside, a large number of users are confused why they keep seeing the fundraising banner, and it's taking away time from helping editors focus on content and community. See the meta discussions meta:Talk:Fundraising and also Wikipedia:Village_pump (WMF)#Regarding the fundraising banners. ~ 🦝 Shushugah (he/him • talk) 18:16, 8 December 2021 (UTC)
