Template:Solar mass/doc

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Usage

[edit]
  • {{Solar mass}}M
  • {{Solar mass|FOOBAR}} → FOOBAR M (with non-breaking space)

Usually, this will be used as:

  • {{Solar mass|10}} → 10 M
  • {{Solar mass|{{val|13|1|-2|e=7}}}}13+1
    −2
    ×107
     M

Alternatively, one could use template {{val}} with |u=:

  • {{val|12|e=3|u=Solar mass}}12×103 M
  • {{val|12|e=3|u=M_solar}}12×103 M

Parameters

[edit]

To include a link to solar mass, use the |link=yes parameter (or |link=y):

  • {{Solar mass|link=yes}}M

Alternatively, one could use template {{val}} with parameter |ul=:

  • {{val|45|e=6|ul=Solar mass}}45×106 M
  • {{val|45|e=6|ul=M_solar}}45×106 M

For output suitable for first mention in prose per MOS:CONVERSIONS, specify a value and set the parameter |first=yes:

  • {{Solar mass|77|first=yes}} → 77 solar masses (M; 1.53×1032 kg)
  • {{Solar mass|1,400,000|first=yes}} → 1,400,000 solar masses (M; 2.8×1036 kg)
