Template:Shipboxflag/doc

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Usage

[edit]

Produces a larger flag icon, suitable for an image in the |Ship flag= parameter of {{Infobox ship/career}}.

Syntax
{{shipboxflag|nation|variant}}
Parameters
  • |nation= – Use either the name of the nation or the three-letter ISO 3166-1 alpha-3 country code. Be sure that the country name is appropriate for the specific dates, by checking Wikipedia:WikiProject Ships/Ensigns.
  • |variant= (optional) – Specifies the flag to use. This parameter is documented by the appropriate template in Category:Country data templates. For many countries, setting this field to naval parameter will select the naval ensign, but for civil ships, this parameter may be omitted.

Examples

[edit]
  • {{shipboxflag|United Kingdom|naval}}
  • {{shipboxflag|United Kingdom|civil}}
  • {{shipboxflag|Kingdom of Great Britain|naval}}
  • {{shipboxflag|Kingdom of Great Britain|civil}}
  • {{shipboxflag|United States}} (with no variant parameter specified, the standard national flag is used, which is also the naval ensign for some countries)
  • {{shipboxflag|United States|coast guard}}
