Template:Script/Cuneiform/doc

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Template intended to force fonts that support the two Cuneiform Unicode blocks.

Usage

[edit]

known fonts:

  • Akkadian (automatically provided as webfont if the Universal Language Selector is enabled)
  • Noto Sans Cuneiform by Google
  • Santakku (cursive Old Babylonian)
  • Ullikummi A (Hattic, Hittite, Luwian, Palaic)
  • Assurbanipal (Neo-Assyrian, Urartian)
  • Esagil (Neo-Babylonian)

Optionally, two parameters can be used. In this case, the first parameter is either

  • a number from 1 to 12, specifying the historical stage preferred:
    1. archaic pictogram, around 3000 BC.
    2. rotated pictogram, around 2800 BC.
    3. abstracted glyphs in archaic monumental inscriptions, from ca. 2600 BC
    4. Classical Sumerian cuneiform as written in clay, from ca. 2600 BC
    5. Neo-Sumerian, late 3rd millennium BC
    6. Old Akkadian, late 3rd millennium BC
    7. Old Assyrian, early 2nd millennium BC
    8. Old Babylonian, early 2nd millennium BC, as adopted into Hittite.
    9. Middle Assyrian, late 2nd millennium BC
    10. Middle Babylonian, late 2nd millennium BC
    11. Neo-Assyrian, early 1st millennium BC
    12. Neo-Babylonian, late 1st millennium BC
    • This is so far supported only for (8), (11), and (12), for lack of fonts for the other stages.
  • or the code ana for languages spoken in ancient Anatolia (Hittite, Hurrian, Luwian, Palaic).

For:

  1. Ugaritic, use {{Script|Ugar|}}},
  2. Old Persian cuneiform, use {{Script|Xpeo|}}}.
