Template:R from non-neutral name

When used inside the Redirect category shell template:

This page is a redirect. The following categories are used to track and monitor this redirect:

From a non-neutral name: This is a redirect from a title that contains a non-neutral, promotional, laudatory, pejorative, controversial, or offensive word, phrase, or name. It leads to the target page in accordance with Wikipedia naming conventions for neutrality in page titles and can help writing and searches. Normally, these redirected links should be replaced with links that go directly to the target page.

When appropriate, protection levels are automatically sensed, described and categorized.

When used by itself:

From a non-neutral name: This is a redirect from a title that contains a non-neutral, promotional, laudatory, pejorative, controversial, or offensive word, phrase, or name. It leads to the target page in accordance with Wikipedia naming conventions for neutrality in page titles and can help writing and searches. Normally, these redirected links should be replaced with links that go directly to the target page.

Shortcuts

Usage

This redirect category (rcat) template populates Category:Redirects from non-neutral names and, when the redirect is in the main-article namespace (mainspace), Category:Unprintworthy redirects is also populated by default. In 2003, efforts were begun to support the Wikimedia Foundation's goal of increasing access and availability of Wikipedia articles in printed versions. Most redirects from non-neutral titles are not suitable for a printed version. In other words they are unprintworthy. See below for what to do for the few redirects from non-neutral names that are printworthy.

Please do not alter the printworthy settings of this rcat without first notifying the Version 1.0 Editorial Team, who are responsible for any and all materials, including redirects, that go into a printed version of Wikipedia.

Add this rcat to a redirect in the following manner:

#REDIRECT (target page name)

and when the redirect is in article mainspace, printworthiness should also be tagged:

#REDIRECT (target page name)

Template Rcat shell is an alias for the Redirect category shell template, which may be used to add as many appropriate rcats as needed, usually from one to seven, along with their parameters, to a redirect. For more information see the documentation on its template page. This rcat may also tag a redirect individually:

#REDIRECT (target page name)

R from non-neutral name

This is in accord with instructions found at Wikipedia:REDCAT.

Use this rcat to tag any redirect in any namespace from a non-neutral title, which is any word, phrase or name that is pejorative, not neutral, controversial or otherwise offensive and is therefore unsuitable to be used as a page name. Links to these redirects should normally be replaced with links directly to the target page names. An example of an exception would be where an article specifically discusses the etymology/origin of the non-neutral name.

Printworthiness

|printworthy parameter – By default, this template tags and categorizes redirects as unprintworthy. Use this parameter to subdue this behavior and populate Category:Printworthy redirects:

or the 1= may be omitted:

and when used individually:

printworthy
