Usage

This template produces an external link to a PubChem page about a chemical using its PubChem CID.

Do not use this template for references. Most information on PubChem is aggregated from other sources, which should be cited instead. Use another template, such as {{cite web}}, for that purpose.

Parameters

May be used with or with out parameters.

If used without parameters, pulls the CID from Wikidata and extracts link text from the page name.

The first unnamed parameter is the CID.

The second parameter is the display name. If this parameter is not given, the external link displays as CID {{{1}}}

PubChem identifiers

Note that the link generated by this template is a CID (compound identifier) link. There are two other identifiers used in PubChem: the UID (unique identifier) and SID (structure identifier). These two identifiers are currently not in use, but this template may later be expanded to include them.
