Template:Google/doc

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Usage

[edit]

Creates a Google search link for the supplied term. By default, the search link is for the name of the page it is put on, if no term is provided. It is strongly recommended (but not required) that you SUBST: this template.

Do not use in articles

Verbatim searches

[edit]

To link to a Google "verbatim" search (which keeps Google from guessing alternate spellings), add the named argument verbatim with any value other than whitespace.

Examples

{{subst:google|Godzilla Rodan|verbatim=1}}Godzilla RodanPages which contain "Godzilla" and "Rodan", and excluding pages that Google might otherwise think you were interested in because they contain "Roman" instead of "Rodan".
{{subst:google|"Godzilla Movie"}}"Godzilla Movie"Pages with the phrase "Godzilla Movie".
{{google|1 pound in kilograms {{=}}}}1 pound in kilograms =Use Template:= to add an = sign to trigger Google Calculator when necessary; that template cannot be substituted.

[edit]

You can use the site: parameter to search on a specific Web site. You may prefer {{Google custom}} or {{Google Wikipedia}} because they yield a cleaner search form, without the site: parameter cluttering the input field.
