Template:Etymology section/doc

This template is used to tag the talk pages of articles with etymology sections, or that may potentially have etymology sections, that are within the scope of the Etymology Task Force of WikiProject Linguistics. The template should generally be put at the top of the page, below the talk page header and above other talk page tags.

Usage

Basic usage: {{etymology section}}

Parameters

All parameters are optional.

• category:- this enables category output. It does not usually need to be set manually.
• listas – This parameter, which is the equivalent of the DEFAULTSORT sortkey that should be placed on all biographical articles, is a sortkey for the article talk page (e.g. for János Sajnovics, use |listas=Sajnovics, János so that the talk page will show up in the S's and not the J's of the various assessment and administrative categories). This is important because it is one source used by those who set DEFAULTSORT on the article; consider also setting the DEFAULTSORT for the article when setting this parameter.   If the article is using {{WikiProject banner shell}} then it is preferable to add |listas= to that template instead of a project banner template. Putting the parameter on more than one template is not required.
