Parameters

General parameters

Values:

• t for the text in Tibetan characters
• w for the transliteration of the Tibetan text according to Wylie transliteration
• s for the phonetic romanization of the Tibetan text according to the Tibetan and Himalayan Library (THL) Simplified Phonetic Transcription
• z for the romanization in the PRC's Tibetan pinyin (Zangyu/Zangwen pinyin; ZYPY, ZWPY)
• a for the transliteration of the Tibetan text according to the American Library Association – Library of Congress (ALA-LC) romanization
• l for the pronunciation in the Standard Tibetan Lhasa dialect, given in the International Phonetic Alphabet (IPA)

Script parameter

By default, the [[Tibetan]] link is directed to Tibetan script, but using "Tibetan" as link text. If the link text should be "Tibetan script" including the word "script", set script to "yes" or "1".

Language parameter

If you would like [[Tibetan]] link to point to Tibetan language instead (which is appropriate if you are including a conventional spelling or anything else other than Tibetan alphabet), set |lang=yes or |lang=bo. This will also automatically amend the format of the template to conform to MOS:NONENGITALIC.

Unlike {{bo-textonly}}, this template presently only supports Standard Tibetan (|lang=bo).

Labels parameter

Labels are displayed by default. Setting |labels=no will remove the labels. Only one transliteration will be displayed as there are no labels to distinguish multiple transliterations. If multiple are used, the first in the order listed at § General parameters will be used.

Translation parameters

Literal translations can be provided using |lit=. This uses the same parameters as {{literal translation}}.

Example 1:

Example 2:

Alternatively, glosses or non-literal translations may be provided using |gloss= or |translation=. This uses the same parameters as {{gloss}}, and by default behaves like the |lit= parameter of {{langx}}.

Example 1:

Audio parameter

When using |l=, pronunciation audio from Wikimedia Commons can also be provided as with {{IPA}}. Use |audio= to provide the name of an audio file.
