Create Wikipedia barnstars with a more modern look than the old Template:Barnstar (still accessible at Template:Barnstar image box). This is a customizable version of {{The Original Barnstar}}. For more barnstars, see Wikipedia:Barnstars § Barnstars.
Hard-coded to 800px wide. Image is hard-coded to 100px wide.
Parameters are |file=, |name=, and |message=.
- File
Do not include File: or brackets in the file name. The default file is Original Barnstar Hires.png
- Name
It's up to you to give a name to your barnstar; this acts as the template's title. The default name or title is "The Original Barnstar".
Note that the template does not enforce it being referred to as a barnstar. You should probably include "Barnstar" in the name to make it clear to the recipient they are indeed being awarded a barnstar, especially if you use a custom image file that looks nothing like a barnstar. You might even consider linking the word "barnstar" to our help page.
For example, |name=The Most Awesome [[WP:BARN|Barnstar]] yields "The Most Awesome Barnstar" while something like |name=You have been deputized would make the template seem like it awards an Sheriff's star badge, making no mention of barnstars.
- Message and signing
Don't forget to sign your barnstar by ending the |message= using four tildes. This is an old template and does not do this automatically. If you don't supply a |message=, the template defaults to the message "Thank you so much for your amazing work. --Your signature here". The "Your signature here" part is linked to User:Example.
- You cannot access the default message without it displaying "Your signature here" and linking it to User:Example. If you want to use the default message and still sign it properly, replicate it by supplying
|message=Thank you so much for your amazing work. --~~~~.
