Template:Archive request/doc

This template can be used to indicate a talk page has become very long and should be archived.

Consider instead simply setting up automatic archiving, perhaps using {{Setup auto archiving}}. Do please establish a consensus that archiving is necessary before setting up automatic archiving on a high-traffic article's talk page.

Since the template can come off as confrontational, its use on user talk pages is discouraged. For user talk pages, consider using {{please archive}} instead.

Usage

• {{Archive request}} - places page in Category:Archive requests except on user talk pages (where this use of this template is discouraged).
  • First sorted by largest pagesize in KB then by page name
• (very) long will show the page size when moused over.
  • Pages <= 225K will say "long"
  • Pages > 225K will say "very long"
• Pages >= 512K will have the background turn red
