Tawfig F. Al-Rabiah (Arabic: توفيق بن فوزان الربيعة; born 26 October 1965) is a Saudi politician and computer scientist who has served as the Minister of Hajj and Umrah since 2021. He served as Minister of Health from May 2016 until October 2021.[1] He was the Minister of Commerce and Industry from December 2011 to May 2016.
Early life and education
[edit]Al-Rabiah was born in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, on 26 October 1965 [citation needed]. In 1986, he graduated with a bachelor's degree from the College of Business at the King Saud University (KSU). [citation needed] He studied at the University of Pittsburgh, where he attained master's degree in Information Science in 1990, a master's degree in computer science in 1995, and Ph.D. in Computer Science in 1999.[citation needed]
He worked as an assistant professor at King Saud University between 1999 and 2002.
Political career
[edit]Before his ministerial appointments, Al-Rabiah served as director general of the Information and Communications Technology sector at the Saudi Arabian General Investment Authority (SAGIA). In April 2007, he was appointed director general of the Saudi Authority for Industrial Cities and Technology Zones (MODON), serving until December 2011.[2][3]
Minister of Commerce and Industry (2011–2016)
[edit]On 13 December 2011, Al-Rabiah was appointed Minister of Commerce and Industry.[3] He held the post until May 2016, when he was appointed Minister of Health.[2]

[edit]On 7 May 2016, a royal decree appointed Al-Rabiah as Minister of Health.[4] He served until 15 October 2021, when he was appointed Minister of Hajj and Umrah.[5]
Personal life
[edit]AlRabiah is married to Maha Muhammad Alsayari. They have five children.
