Tatce is a municipality and village in Kolín District in the Central Bohemian Region of the Czech Republic. It has about 700 inhabitants.

Etymology

In Old Czech, the word tat meant 'thief' and tatec was a diminutive of tat. So the name Tatce meant "the village of little thieves".^[2]

Geography

Tatce is located about 17 kilometres (11 mi) northwest of Kolín and 32 km (20 mi) east of Prague. It lies in a flat agricultural landscape in the Central Elbe Table.

Tatce is located on the railway line Prague–Kolín.^[6]

Sights

There are no protected cultural monuments in the municipality.^[7] A landmark is the Chapel of the Virgin Mary, which dates from 1843.^[8]
