Wedelia?

[edit]

"Around 1990, John L. Strother was revising the six North American genera of the subtribe Ecliptinae in the sunflower family (Asteraceae) for publication in Systematic Botany Monographs. He carefully examined species in the genus Wedelia, and decided that "something was looking odd and different" in some of the specimens."

But who had put it into Wedelia? Apparently neither Strother nor Robinson nor Turner. Dysmorodrepanis (talk) 20:05, 6 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

I interviewed Strother himself when writing this article. He looked at specimens that had been identified as Wedellia, and not a taxon that had necessarily been classified as such. There were piublished names for the new taxon, but in other genera (as indicated in the synonymy). --EncycloPetey (talk) 21:03, 6 April 2008 (UTC)Reply
Incidentally, why did you mark the basionym publication as "verification needed"? There is a citation for the article in the References section. --EncycloPetey (talk) 21:05, 6 April 2008 (UTC)Reply
